My Lee scale seems sticky at time. I have to keep fiddling with it to make sure it's freed up. Are they all this fussy, or did I get a lemon? Yes, I'm sure the knife edge is in the slot. Seems to twist on the knife support and hang up the "paddle" thing on the left side.

My recommendation? Go buy a RCBS 5-0-5 scale. It won't cost you an arm and a leg and it's probably the "standard" of reloading scales and should last a lifetime. WalMart here sells them in the sports section.

I had a Lee scale for 6 months or so. Plenty accurate but not of the quality I bet my life on. For instance, the 10gr ball bearing slipped a notch on me more than once.

Mine is fine. There's a magnet in there to damp the motion. Maybe you don't have the measure close enough to zero?

Saw the title of this thread and was going to suggest some Clorox wipes and not eating peanut butter & jelly sammiches while reloading...

No it's not the zero. It will float freely around zero, then if I move it down it will stick in the up position. A small tap, then it floats free again. Then sometimes it gets "cocked" and rubs full travel. Probably send it back. I like the simplicity of the scale, but not the wondering if it's really on the mark or sticking to the mark!

Make sure the knife edges and pivots are PERFECTLY clean.
Evan a small amount of oil or dirt on these points will mess up the scale.
You can check the knife edges for burrs with your finger.
They should be sharp and crisp with nothing to snag as you GENTLY slide your finger along the edge.
