Lee seating die problem

With slight irregularity on bullet ogive do you believe it possible that on some bullets the length of bullet above the seating die contact area could vary enough to change OAL? In this case, adjustment of the loading equipment would not fix the situation. The bullets actual ogive (bullet to bullet variance) would be the determining factor in seating depth variance.

I bought some bullets a couple of years ago and the ogive was pretty consistent but the bullet lengths varied from one to the next. As a result, my OALs were all over the place and I ended up giving them away.

So many people are convinced that inconsistent ogive is the issue.

Take the seating stem out of your 9mm die and put it on a bulllet. Lol. The ogive doesn't come close to any stock seating stem. Rifle bullets, yes. Handgun bullets, nope. The stem only touches the nose. And powerbond plated bullets will be plenty consistent in shape to start out.
