I recently switched from my 15 year old 3 position Lee Turret press, to a new 4 hole press, and am having trouble with the darn primer arm not staying put inside the ram and it falls out on the floor all the time and its driving me nuts! Has anyone invented any mods to keep the arm in place?

Is it engaged properly? You have to take the shell holder off so you can slip it into place on the arm inside the ram. Did you take the shell holder off to do it?

The primer arm slips down over a roll pin going through the ram then up through the shell plate holder. it is sticking in the shell plate and comming off the pin it is suppose to stay on, then it falls out of the shell plate holder and onto the floor.

Never cared for Lees turret priming system. I still use my single stage to size, deprime, than use their hand primer. With primed cases, ready to load in bulk, I can load 400 rounds an hour, with no sweat. The new cast turret, with the spent primer tube, looks like an improvement. I tried to use my turret to prime cases, but found the old single stage to be way faster, and less a PITA.:) I didnt even give the primer arm thingy a chance:D

Does the arm stay engaged okay when the shell holder is removed? If so, it indicates that the pin that holds the primer cup is bent. Straighten it out or get a new arm from Lee. If you can't figure it out call Lee and ask for Dave--he knows about everything there is to know about Lee priming systems.
