Since I don't have my Lee primer shell holders yet, I've been busy depriming my brass. My question is: what is a simple way to keep all of the spent primers from going nearly everywhere??

The non-classic press? On that one, I used a playing card taped between the right 2 posts to catch most of them. There is a post on here somewhere here where a guy cut a piece of aluminum can into a small trough that he ft into the primer eject hole and kept the primers shooting mostly down instead of bouncing out to the sides. Hopefully somebody can find it and post the pic for you.

I've used several methods that almost worked well:
1. Heated and bent some plexiglass to block the right and back side of the press between the posts. I cut a funnel-shaped hole under the press base that fed 95% of the primers into a can below the bench. 5% had to be brushed into the press base holes

2. I shaped some thin aluminum on the press base and through the right posts like a trough to bounce the primers into a small container beside the press . A few still didn't bounce far enough--maybe 5% again.

3. Due to the depriming crud build-up, I bought a simple single stage press to deprime and size (LEE DIE) on the patio before I tumble them. No primer toxins or crud build-up on the turret press. It seldom needs cleaning.

Good luck.

When I read your earlier thread, I thought you had a Classic Turret. So, just to be sure, is the base of your press made of cast iron or aluminum? Is the base flat, or kind of pyramid-like?

If I have problems with primers dropping on the floor, I spread a dropcloth. Which is not a bad idea in any event. Powder spills and the detritus of spent primers are easy to keep corralled, too.

Cloth is better than plastic because of less static (which can cause spilled powder to scatter) and is less noisy and does not let primers roll around so much.

The Classic Turret (as well as the Classic Cast) drops primers down the center tube of the ram most reliably when the priming arm is in place. Without the priming arm in place, they spent primers hardly behave well at all.

Lost Sheep, I have the Turret Press with auto-index. I took the auto index off to use it as a single stage. Since I don't have the safety prime I haven't put the priming arm in place. I will try it that way and make something to catch the little critters with.

I feel your pain. I am assuming that the primers are shooting out the slot where the priming arm would go as I had the same trouble. I got into the habit after placing the case to be deprimed in the holder just to block the slot with my left thumb. Works pretty good and after getting used to doing this I rarely lose a primer out the slot. I also put a ziptie on the rubber hose the spent primers fall into so it doesn't get knocked off.
