I have a Lee Turret press with 9mm dies with the #19 "Universal" shell holder.

I believe this is supposed to hold both 9mm and 40 cal cases.

Does anyone know if Lee makes a 9mm (only) shell holder?

I'm looking for a better fit.

I looked on the Lee site and can't find any selection for the shell holders. They (the #19) come with the dies.

If you want a shellholder that is more closely tailored to fit 9mm, use a different brand. Redding #13, or Hornady #8 or RCBS #16. They should all fit a standard press, including the Lee Turret press.

I dislike Lyman as everything I bought from them lately has been junk.

I am wondering why the tighter fit would be needed for the short cartridge.

Lee #6 is the one you want for 9mm.

Or an RCBS #1 if you want it to really fit right.

I don't think there was ever any intent to make a "universal" shell holder for 9mm & .40 S&W.
One has a .394" rim - .347" groove.
The other has a .424" rim - .347" groove.

The thing is, there is a very wide variation in 9mm brass, as it has been made all over the world to various "standards" for 100 years.
Some won't fit the #6, so you have to use the #19.

rc thanks for the info. #6 is listed for 32Win & 358 Norma Mag?

On the back of the LEE blister pack for a shell holder, it lists all the shell holders available.

#19 is listed for 9mm, 40S&W, 38Super, 10mm Auto, 30 Mauser and 30 Luger.

TeamPrecision : Mine (#19) works fine also at 'reloading' speed.

Im using an old press to size / deprime 9mm. When I get in the zone, I deprime pretty fast. If you push the case in and tip it a little (going fast) it's so loose in the holder it will fall back flat and move 'out' a little. Bang, you've dinged a case mouth--(a few/100).

I know, SLOW DOWN, but if the case holder was a little better fit, there wouldn't be a problem. I deprimed 1500 cases (F.C. & Blazer) yesterday.
