I am looking for bolt action rifle, it needs be be left handed and shoot either 308 or 270. It should have an internal non detatchable magazine, stainless steel barrel, and be either a good laminate wood or good synthetic stock. and if possible iron sights as well? my price range is as high as $1,200.00.

The iron sights is the killer. Would you consider a Ruger Scout?

Other than that, check out Savage 14 or 114; or Tikka T3.

Remington made a lefty 700 BDL with irons, but no more. Maybe auctions sites would have a few.

Yeah, the Irons are going to be kinda hard to find. If youve got 1200 to spend, you could probably put together (or buy a factory rifle and have it modified) a pretty decent rifle with your specs. If your willing to sacrifice the Irons, then pretty much everyone makes a decent left hand rifle in the 5-800 dollar price range (some are even pretty :D).

Check with Savage. They have resurrected the M110 with fancy wood stocks and factory iron sights. If they don't have one, contact them directly. You may be able to talk them into custom building one.

They did have a program where you could tour the factory and "build your own", and then they'd ship it to your local FFL for pick-up.

I had a M110 LH in .30/06. Synthetic/blue, no sights. Never felt the need for iron's on a b/a rifle with a decent scope....
I sold it as I decided I don't care for the Savage's lack of camming action to extract cases. Limit's the upper end reloading. My Savage 110's max load with a 150gr bullet and IMR4064 was 50.0gr. My Colt LtRifle will take 53.0 with no "issues" and is much faster (200fps) and more accuate sub-moa vs. 1.5moa for the Savage. Sold it..... to local gunsmith who intends to build a custom rifle from it......

Several companiesmake left handed bolt guns. With your budget you should have no problem finding one you like. Virtually no one puts irons on from the factory. If you want irons simply have a gunsmith install them on the gun of your choice. It is less expensive than buying a mid-priced scope and mounts.

You stand a better chance of finding iron sights on a used gun than on current production. As others have said, you could always pay someone to add them aftermarket. Most factory 'iron' sights are actually fairly fragile plastic these days anyway, so aftermarket would probably be nicer quality.

I would hit the gunshows and look for a used one if it were me.

You could also try purchasing a Montana barreled action, putting after market irons on and dropping it in a Boyds stock for the time being. Then if you feel like it later you could upgrade the stock.

^ +10 on Montana's M99.

I got a stainless fluted Lefty barreled action from them some years ago, and it's my favorite gun. It's in an Accurate Innovations aluminum chassis stock, .243win. There's probably a picture of it somewhere on THR. (ETA: Here's one:)

Unfortunately their prices are higher than they used to be. BUT, if you go that route, I have an extra Lefty Short Action walnut stock inletted for an M99 I'd be willing to part with for far less than a comparable custom order.
