Hello everyone, I am new to the thread, and have a question for people who have been reading and such about guns long before me. I am left handed, and as such I would like to purchase a left handed bolt action rifle. I am pretty dead set on a Winchester Model 70 in .308 Winchester. However, I have not been able to find one, or even find out if winchester ever chambered the left handed model 70 in .308. does anyone know if winchester ever made it, or am I going to have to look at alternatives? I know that alot of manufacturers are making lefty .308's. any input would be great.

Remington, Browning, Savage, Tikka all make LH 308's, Winchester is no longer in the business of bolt actions. I hear they are gearing up to produce the Model 70 again soon but as to a lefty no idea.

I too am a lefty. I've shot plenty of friends "righty" bolt rifles and a couple shotguns, and until recently, I had never shot a left handed bolt. I bought a left Rem 700 Varmint 22.250. I think I actually prefer cycling the bolt with my right hand. In fact, the only "righty" I wouldn't shoot again is a flintlock... a little too much stuff goin on there in front of my right eye.
Oh, also, some rifles used to (do still?) have butt stocks that were cast off to the right of the bore. If you run into one of those, you'll know it right away because you'll have to really crank your head over to line up the sights or scope. If I buy another bolt-action, I'll probably buy a righty. It's prob a function of what I grew up with and muscular memory. Nice accurate rifle tho. I also shot a friend's Savage heavy bbl varmint rifle with the funny looking 2-piece trigger.... best trigger I've ever come across on a factory gun!
Awesomely accurate and better priced than the Rem too. Also available in lefty.
Best of luck to you.
