I am thinking about getting one and was wondering if anyone has any experience with that rifle in that caliber? I currently own a Taurus Raging Bull in .480 and a Marlin guide gun in 45-70 so I think I have an idea on what to expect as far as the recoil. I was looking for information on how the rifle holds up from using that caliber and overall quality of the Legacy product line. TIA.

Don't have any experience with the Puma Legacy in .480 but I do have some with mine which is chambered in .357 Magnum.

I purchased it to match my pair of Beretta Stampedes in .357 for cowboy shooting. It's a handy little carbine, with very little perceptible recoil in .357, and quite fun to shoot. The fit on the furniture is okay, and mine came with a John Wayne style large-loop lever.

However, mine had failure to eject problems from the beginning. Not failure to extract or feed, just ejection. Took it to a gunsmith and he cleaned some burrs off the extractor, which fixed it except it ejects all but the last round. He's ordering a new extractor for it, and while he had it we snipped a little of the magazine spring so I could fit ten .38s in there.

Even with the repairs my investment isn't going to be much over $500, so I still feel ahead of the game. I'll have a nice functioning carbine to play with until I can budget for that gorgeous 1873 with the 20" octagonal barrel from Navy Arms that's caught my eye.

Not really what you were asking, but hopefully some of it was helpful.

It answered one of my questions, the part about quality. I guess I will hold off for now and save my cash for a rainy day. Thanks for the info.

Not sure if your question was meant seriously, but the Puma is a clone of the Winchester model 1892 lever-action. The company that makes them is a spin-off from Taurus/Rossi.

Mine came in a carbine configuration with a 16" barrel and a large loop lever in .357/.38, though I believe that exact configuration was a special run for a distributor. It is the cheapest '92 clone I have ever seen, and the fit and finish is pretty good for the price. I have no idea if my ejection problem, or less than 10 round magazine capacity is typical of the rifles or the exception.

I do need to note that even with having to take it to a gunsmith it's still cheaper than any other I've seen. Not a bad entry level lever-action for someone getting into cowboy shooting and doesn't have a lot of money.
