Legal to carry on your property in MD as a renter?

Yes its legal. The only reason I believe that you may have problems is if your lease prohibits legal weapons, and I have never heard of that. Even if it was in the lease your not breaking the law just subjecting yourself to eviction.

Thanks,
I'm counting down my days till I'm out of MD so getting evicted isn't an issue.

I'm just a bit concerned now since we're 60 days from our lease expiring and they're going to put a key lock-box on our front door so they can show the house to other potential renters.

We've been great tenants for 4 years and I'm trying to talk them into at least waiting till we're 30 days out. But if they won't, I want to be in a better position to protect my family. I just hate that the keys to our house will be hanging on the front door. Just not safe to me and there is no other lock system.

For PG county the law is this:
Landlord's right to access
Tenant may not unreasonably withhold consent for landlord to enter the unit to inspect, make necessary repairs, decorations, alterations, etc., or to show the unit to prospective purchasers, tenants, or mortgagees.

Landlord must not abuse the right to access or use it to harass the tenant. Except in an emergency affecting health, safety, or welfare, tenant must be given at least 24 hours' written or oral notice and landlord's entry must be during normal business hours or at another time mutually agreed to by tenant and landlord.

I'd bet it is the same for the rest of the state. Looks like they have to give notice and not just show up unannounced.
