On another gun board that I will not name here someone is trying to tell me that if the assault gun ban expires September, then we (ordinary civilians) will still not be able to own magazines marked LEO use only. These magazines were made during the assault weapon ban period, holding over 10 rounds. He/they say that we will only be able to buy these capacity magazines made before SEP13 1994 and after SEP 13 2004.

This statement rings my BS alarm but what do you guys think?

I ain't no lawyer, but, if the law that says "You can't own a magazine marked LEO" expires, what law would you be violating by having one marked LEO?

Total BS and a great example of fuzzy thinking if I ever saw it.

The part of the AWB which bars non-LEO possession of post-ban magazines doesn't ban "magazines marked Law Enforcement Only." The law bans magazines holding over 10 rounds manufactured after a certain date.

The reason the AWB requires that mags made after its effective date be marked "Law Enforcement Only" is to differentiate them from pre-ban mags. Once the ban expires (hopefully) there will be nothing from a legal standpoint to differentiate.

An analogy

I have a gunsight marked "for police and military use".

I'm neither.

Fortunately for me, there is no law that says I can not posess a gunsight marked as such, nor any law to prohibit it from being sold to me, or my recieving of it.

Therefore, it's perfectly legal.

After Sept 14, you can think of those mystical runes and sigils as "serving suggestions".

LEO Mags

In California, Semiauto rifles or mags marked "LEO only" or "Government use only" are only allowed by said groups. Anyone else is subject to STATE felony prosecution.

No reason to believe that will change when AWB ends. :cuss:
