Here in fascist heaven (New York State) I needed to get permission from three of my neighbors to put the application in. They had to agree to speak with the police and FBI in regards to me and the type of person I am and if they thought it was a good idea for me to have a handgun license. *** is that??

cop:ma'am are you ok with your husband having this licence?

wife:Guess I better be.
Cop;Why do you say that ?
Wife:He OKed mine.

Oh man, that was the best answer any spouse could give. :D

new CT rules

I remember reading in one of Lionken's thread that CT changed its rules and now the local police can't do anything but run your prints. I thought all the horse puckey about interviews and references were gone now.

CT is shall issue. That is why being bothered by the police while getting the permit is such a pain. When I got mine the officer was nasty to me.

Also in CT you need a permit to have a pistol outside your home. So if I wanted to go to the range I would need a permit.

When I went in to the police station to get printed, they were very friendly. The only thing they did was remind me that I was required by law to keep my guns locked up when I wasn't carrying. Then they mentioned that they thought that kind of defeated the purpose of having a loaded gun in the house, but *shrug* its the law, so that's what we have to tell you. I love Florida.

I dropped mine off at the Sheriff's office, paid $20 and waited 2 weeks to receive mine. I love Alabama!

No Probs in my part of the State. My CCW was issued through the New London Police(temp permit), my Girlfriends was issued through Montville(temp permit). It is shall issue in CT, but that doesn't mean everyone is happy about that..

Don't get me wrong, the police were quite nice and gave me no problems. I did have to meet with the Chief of Police and answer a few questions but it was painless. I just don't think I should need the permission of my neighbors to get my permit. I do know that they were contacted by the police and questioned so in NY they do ask questions.

I don’t see that the police acted out of line. Everyone thinks what the world should be, but the reality is what it is. An equal rights utopia for women is still a long way away and may never come. It doesn’t mean we should stop trying. Wife beatings occur often. Shelters are usually full and the welfare system is jam-packed of battered wives with children. Many women will not leave or report the man to save themselves; the women usually leave because they fear for their child’s safety. The police know this; they also know that the female often will not press charges for various reasons. That’s why many states passed laws that don’t require a woman to files charges for an arrest. It’s not chauvinistic; it’s not about stereotyping women as “weak and good natured,” what it is about is the law of averages and probabilities. If she didn’t wear a wedding ring maybe they wouldn’t have asked. As far as I can tell from this post the police were just trying to cover all the bases.

My wife couldn't wait to get her CPL...And she shoots everything in the inventory, hers as well as mine, and is bummed big time if something comes up that keeps her from shooting or hunting with me. Some of us are born lucky... :D
