Well, after owning and parting with three 1911s over the years, I broke down and ordered a Les Baer yesterday. I’ve still got my Colt Gold Cup, but wanted to try a “semi-custom†gun.

It’s going to be a Concept V in SS, with the “tactical†package, serrated slide, and checkered under the trigger guard, pretty much a combination of the “best†features of the other 1911s I’ve owned.

Other than it’s going to be “tight†what else can I expect?

Thanks,

Chuck

Dear Chuck:

Welcome aboard!

I own four Les Baer pistols (one Premier II 6" 9 mm, a Premier II 5" .45, a PPC Open 6" and a Monolith Heavyweight). I will never part with any of them.

You can expect absolute reliability, top quality worksmanship, good ergonomics, great looks and, last not least, match grade accuracy from your Concept V.

The greatest thing of LB guns is how consistently they're made. After comparing your new Baer to your Gold Cup, I bet you'll see for yourself how superior the Baer gun actually is.

I have 2 PII's and a heavyweight monolith. Did you go for the 1.5" option? If not consider it. I am not sure they can do it to SS, but maybe.

What can you expect? One tight gun, but reliablity, accuracy and just plain fun. I truly love mine and would not sell them unless I was desperate.

Great guns, very very realiable!.

Guys,

Thanks for the replies. Any tips for break-in?

It’s not like I’m in a hurry, it’s going to be a 14-16 week wait. Funny thing, I’m already rationalizing a way to buy a second one!

Peter,

I thought about the 1.5†option, but figured since I’m only going to use it for an occasional IDPA match and as a range gun, I won’t miss the extra accuracy potential. I spend a lot of time shooting BPCR Silhouette, so handgun shooting is a secondary hobby.
