Let’s talk .45 ACP target loads.! (Load report)

I can get the 3" springs from Wolff, but I can't reduce the spring rate. If I want a softer spring I have to shoot it until it wears out. I can get a 21# spring, but don't know if I would be able to rack the slide. I like my Kimbers, but it would be nice if I could get a tuning kit.

chris

Because of the short action of the 3" pistols, I don't think there is a lot they can do with the spring weight. You could try by cutting a coil or two and see how that works, but I would fear frame battering.

setting up to load .45 ACP 200 LSWC with WTS powder… And guess what I don’t have.. Dies! lol

I just have a Lee Classic Loader and a Dillion SBD dies

Well, let me show my ignorance on .45acp springs. I have and shoot often, a SA 1911-A1 mil-spec with factory springs. All handloads in the mid range[790-850 MV].
Never had any problems with loads. What are the factory springs? 16-18 lbs? I really don't know. If I need to ever replace them, Wolf what? Thanks guys.

Lysdexia is retrible. 🤪
I don’t get how you don’t have dies but do have Dillon dies. ????
Have you ever been without sunshine for 1-2 months straight. Yes sir, I need to get some Florida medicine in me.

Anyway, think another SDB is coming home with me Wednesday. My current is setup for .357/38 and I didn’t feel like changing it over

It seems this thread is mostly about finding an accurate load for a 1911, but I have some test results for a SIG P220, which I am trying to find some accurate loads for. Hopefully this will also help.

These are the most accurate loads I have tested. I have an SWC bullet listed, but don't shoot it anymore since SWC's don't feed well in the P220:
