Ok, it's my passion with revolvers. Yep, I've got 4" and greater for all intents and purposes, but it's the ones at or under 3.5" that really grab my soul. Show yours. I'm starting out with my favorite (though it honestly barely qualifies as a snubby). Even if it's barely a snub, you gotta love that blue job you can shave by. Anyway, I'll post a new one every day or two for the next week to keep the thread alive.

Show 'em, guys. Let's show these folks what revolvers do best. I call them my "John Wilkes Boothe Guns" - the ones you can easily pocket-carry into a theater. If we do it well enough, maybe it can be a sticky...

1) S&W 27-2, 3.5", 1970, with some EPS leather.

Not to be a jerk, but you said you liked guns with barrels less than 3.5", then posted one with a 3.5" barrel. ;) Granted, it's absolutely beautiful. I'll be ogling this thread as long as people keep posting photos.

I meant "at or under 3.5" " - hey you are kinda picky!;) I call 3.5" a snub in an N frame, not in a smaller frame. 3" in a K/L frame, or 2" or less in a J frame. Same proportion for other makes (not to be a S&W snob, bring on the Colts, Rugers, Taruri, etc.). But if folks want to vary a few fractions, I'm not going to call Shenanigans... But hey, where's your pic? :)...

My massive short barrel collection:

It started with the 296 & 696 - then the new 2" 10 - finally, the only one that matters as a CCW anyday - the 642.

Mmmm, that's a 696 up there on the Right? We all love a .44 special, of course. Nice... I also like the 2" 10. I want a transition model of that myself. Altogether, very nice...

Here's 2 of my all time favorites, the S&W short barrel 66 and the snubbie Colt Python.

"All I've got is a beat-up 642. I have hammers and screwdrivers that are more attractive than that thing, although it is a fine tool."

Kind of Blued; Funny! I feel the same way about my 342. Probably my least favorite of any of my guns...and the one you are most likely to find me carrying!!

Jeff; excellent collection. I LOVE my 2.5" and 3" K-frames. (19 and 65), probably my favorite configuration for wheel guns, but man, those snubby Pythons are IT!

I just picked up a very well used 15 snub that I have not taken pictures of yet, but here are a few others.

Granted, the 617 is a 4" but you can ignore that one..

Nice 640 madcrate, it seems this excellent workhorse is being won over by the lightweights but I as well as you prefer the all steel heavy centennial snubby.

Also like snubbies

I like snubbies also. Here are the seven I presently own in a group photo, and a closeup of a favorite - a 66-4 with 3 inch barrel.

Not trying to be a snub snob, bit I'm not sure I'd call a 3.5" barrel a "snub" even on an N frame.

I don't even count the 2.5" guns in that group.

The 2" barrel is the true "snub" IMO.

Like this.

Of course some shooters would note the square butt as being anti-snubish. So, some 2" RBs are in order.

Cocked & Locked: What model is this 2" no-lug with the adj. sights and neat grips? Also, what's the fixed-sight (2.5"?) .44 Mag?

Whatever they are, they're going on my ever-expanding list of S&Ws to find. :) Sorry for the thread drift, I'm still learning.

Good Luck on your S&W's To Find list!

This one is a 60-1 Chiefs Special .38 Special. 660 of these were made for Ashland Distributors once upon a time. It came with standard looking S&W wood grips and not these.

This one is a 629-5 2.5" .44 Mag. In the year 2000, 300 guns in this configuration were made for Camfour Dist. Co. This one is #013 of that run. This gun does not have the lock, but does have MIM trigger and hammer...also has frame mounted firing pin. I think Camfour had another small run of these made in 2008, but with the lock.

Semi-Auto Snubs?

Although not techically thought of a snubs since they are not revolvers. I am quite found of the Kahr MK-40 and K40 Covert Models.

I like my revolvers with barrels 4" or longer.

Currently on travel and pics are not available.
