Let's Make a Company: Semi-custom Hi-Powers

Days numbered? I think you'll see hi-powers around for a long, long time to come. They may not be the "in" thing but they have quite a following.

Why is a CZ simpler to manufacture? It may be...I don't know. I just don't see that it's any easier or harder. Price point is not about manufacturing costs, I don't believe, but the overinflation that Browning does. Take a look at the price points between honestly-priced FN hi-powers and CZ's and, while there's a difference, it's not what I'd consider an appreciable one.

As for custom CZ's being a better market...? If that's the case, then where are all the CZ customizers? I don't know off the top of my head of a single gunsmith (maybe Middlebrooks..?) who even offers CZ customizations much less specializes in them.

The problem most real hi-power fans would have about additions to a hi-power from the factory is that they don't really WANT it to be much different. Hell, about the only thing I'd pay for is Novak or Heinie sights. Ideally, the only kinds of things that would be done are along the lines of what SA and Kimber did with factory 1911's..."better" sights, prettier grips and maybe better handling controls (trigger and safety)...but NOT front cocking serrations!

The heritage and classy lines keep it alive
On a CZ-75B? What heritage is that exactly?

Custom/Semi Custom 75s would be a better market
Let me get this right. Take what you're calling a knockoff of one of the best guns in the history of semi-auto pistols and say that making "semi-customs knockoffs" would be a better choice. Uh, OK.

It is arguably an improved/simplified BHP.
Exactly what about a SA/DA CZ-75B is more simplified than the single action semi-auto Hi Power?

Hammer bit is a non-issue for me but the trigger on all the NIB FN and Browning stamped HPs I've tried went from bad to worse. I've tried a few NIB FM HP clones and they all had much better triggers. I don't understand how a clone costing a lot less can have a better trigger than the original.

Actually

I was talking about the BHP when I said "heritage and classy lines".

The 75 and BHP are quite different. So different I definitely wouldn't call the 75 a knockoff.
