OHIO CCW Law pertaining to School safety zones--School safety zones
A “school safety zone” includes a school, school building, school premises, school activity, and school bus. For purposes of this statute, a school includes everything up to the property boundary.
If you are licensed to carry a concealed handgun, you may carry a handgun into a school safety zone only if you do not enter a school building, school premises, or school activity. You also must not be in one of the places listed in ORC 2923.126(B). You may be in a motor vehicle and immediately in the process of picking up or dropping off a child. You also must comply with all other laws governing the transportation of firearms in a motor vehicle.
Would I be subject to being dismissed from My Bus driving job and prosecuted"IF" My weapons was locked safely in a Gun box in the Bus garage parking Lot..in My vehicle while I was in My Bus Driving.the orc 2923,126 allows for parents pulling in the loop in front of the school with a firearm being carried as long as they do not exit the vehicle,Ohio code says a firearm in a Vehicle must be properly stored as so no un authorized person may access the firearm..How does everyone read this .It will determine if I can Carry when I head out to work Everyday...

This is an excellent question. I don't know the answer but wonder as well. In Michigan the law says the same as yours. No school property etc. however it says parking lot is not a pfz however then it says ok if you don't leave car and are to pick up your child. Well what if your an employee and you leave weapon in car in school parking lot assuming you have a cpl of course. I tried looking this scenario up on the net and found no mention of this.

I will not ask this question Of my Boss nor bring it any undue attention ,I'm certain the response I would Get and I do not want to open that pandora's Box..But I cannot risk My job or prosecution ,The bad part is at 5:15 am Its a time when I feel I need to be armed more than any other time during the day ,I usually stop at a Coffee shop and The Bus garage, the neighborhood where I Pick my school bus up is exactly that a Hood..and the saddest part is. My Job is a GUN FREE ZONE....That makes it one of these..

(1) “School safety zone” consists of a school, school building, school premises, school activity, and school bus.

(2) “School,” “school building,” and “school premises” have the same meanings as in section 2925.01 of the Revised Code.

2925.01 says

(Q) “School” means any school operated by a board of education, any community school established under Chapter 3314. of the Revised Code, or any nonpublic school for which the state board of education prescribes minimum standards under section 3301.07 of the Revised Code, whether or not any instruction, extracurricular activities, or training provided by the school is being conducted at the time a criminal offense is committed.
(R) “School premises” means either of the following:

(1) The parcel of real property on which any school is situated, whether or not any instruction, extracurricular activities, or training provided by the school is being conducted on the premises at the time a criminal offense is committed;

(2) Any other parcel of real property that is owned or leased by a board of education of a school, the governing authority of a community school established under Chapter 3314. of the Revised Code, or the governing body of a nonpublic school for which the state board of education prescribes minimum standards under section 3301.07 of the Revised Code and on which some of the instruction, extracurricular activities, or training of the school is conducted, whether or not any instruction, extracurricular activities, or training provided by the school is being conducted on the parcel of real property at the time a criminal offense is committed.

Is any "instruction, extracurricular activities, or training" happening on the property where you park?

In my district, the bus facilities share a parking lot with the middle school.

in my case The Bus Garage lot is secured with a 7 foot barbed fence with a maintenence building parking lot adjacent to The bus garage lot then a elementary school Parking lot and Loop area for drop off.The gate to the bus garage lot is opened during daily hours but after hours all the drivers have personal key access to the gate..field trips etc..
