krs, are you a human vice? I think if you put the same guns in a Ransom Rest, they wouldn't group any better at 25 yards!

tipoc alerted some of us on another thread to this one. I just posted this pic there, but offer it here as well:

25yds617-3.gif

- The gun is a 4" S&W 617 .22LR double action revolver (bone stock, except for some Miculek grips)
- The ammo is Federal 714 from Dick's (sadly, no longer carried)
- Shot at 25 yards, standing, unsupported, 2-handed, double action, both eyes open, about 3-5 seconds between shots.

Group 1 = 10 rounds @ 2 3/8"
Group 2 = 10 rounds @ 1 3/4"
Group 3 = 5 rounds @ 1 1/2"

Average group = 1.88" (says 1.98", but apparently, I couldn't do the math).

edit: Just saw this is the autoloader forum. Apologies. Can a revolver play too?

Yep wheelguns can play. I figure this cuz one of the moderators posted pics of his revolver targets.

I like pics of targets. Gives me something to work towards and keeps me humble.

I hold onto some targets so I can update notes on various loads from different guns

Lol! No, but I did compete in bullseye pistol for about seven years and although I'd have to get real serious to retrain my old muscles to be able to shoot like that one handed and freestanding, and my eyes will never see anywhere near as well as they did back then, the old fundamentals and habits in trigger control and sight alignment work pretty well from a rest and using both hands.

Already posted in another thread, but here it goes.
15 shots
S&W 22A
.22LR
27 yards
Standing, unsupported, both hands, first time ever (will post my progress).

My daughter (7yrs old) became my shooting partner this summer! :D

She only fired five rounds her first visit (she's shooting the same MKIII 22/45 and Aguila ammo noted above - distance of 9 feet from rest):

She's used to the sights & sounds now, so we stay for an hour each time. She gets better and better each visit. Target from last weekend (distance of 21 feet from rest):

And from today's visit; she decided to use 3x5 cards for more of a challenge (distance of 21 feet from rest):

I'm teaching three neighbor ladies to shoot.
The third time on my range I introduced them to the laser on my Ruger 22/45.
I just wanted them to have some fun shooting, so I used that hostage target where the BG is holding the girl and pointing his gun at you.

I told each one to empty their magazine into the BG's head (10 yards).
None missed his head.
Then I told the best shot,
Now, that was easy. What I want you to do is shoot the gun out of the BG's hand (10 yards).

The lady has only been to the range three times and here's her target.:D

First pic is 7.64x54 casings at 65'. Pistol used was an Astra A-100 9mm firing WWB 115 gr two hands standing. I was aiming for the neck. 10 cases and 12 rounds to knock them down. Only found these 3. Second is a B-27 one handed at 15yds same pistol same ammo warming up for a charity shoot.

Below are two targets fired at 25 yards from a rest. The gun is a post war .357 Magnum (pre-M27) from about 54 or so. The first target is with Winchester 145 gr. Silvertip HPs. The two flyers were mine and not the guns. The box above is 3" on the inside. An accurate round from this gun.

From the same gun the Black Hills 148 gr. WC .38 pl. round is less accurate from this gun. Again the flyers were mine, but the group is larger overall.

I bought some ammo for the 642 I bought this week, and finally shot it this afternoon.

IMG-1.jpg

I shot 10rds at the 3x5 index card. My first shot was about an inch or two high(not on card) then I figured it out a lil bit. I was shooting super slow trying not to snatch the trigger, which I did on the last shot. doh! My scanner didnt pick it up, but it nicked the bottom of the card.
Ive only fired one other revolver(neighbors K-frame) a few years ago, and did terrible. So I dont think I did too bad. This lil gun is pretty powerful and will wake you up if you aint holding on tight. Should make a great carry piece.

Taurus 24/7 PRO .45 ACP at 15 yards.

Other picture is of my Bersa Thunder .380 It too is a pretty good shooter.
