Can anyone describe the differences between the models? I look at 'em and see how they have different numbers and how some are larger than others a take different batteries but that's it.

I didn't watch those vids but here is a simple explanation:

Any model number 51x will be the non-night vision capable version (usually $50 to $100 cheaper)

Any model number 55x is night vision capable (has lower brightness settings only detectable when using night vision)

The last number of the model will tell you which type of batteries it uses (N, CR123, AA). The AA versions have the longest battery life and the N versions have the shortest.

A few of the newest models have a bullet drop compensator reticle for either 308 or .223. A few also have a 7mm higher mount that uses throw levers instead of the standard mounting style. Even fewer still have side-mounted buttons for use with magnifiers.

When purchasing an EoTech you should make sure it is the most current production date or atleast Revision F (Rev F - which is marked by a white "F" on the lower right side of the steel hood if looking at the optic on one side).

The 512 seems to be the most popular, it uses AA batteries and is not night vision capable.
