Dear xxxxx,
Thanks for your message about bills that reautherise the ban on semi-automatic firearms.
As you may know , this issue was debated during the firearms liabilty bill that failed to pass the Senate on March 2, 2004, by a vote of 8-90. A number of bills addressing the semi-autiomatic firearms ban are still pending in the 108th Congress.H.R.3831 and H.R.2038, bills to reauthorize the ban on assault weapons, are being reviewed by the House Committee on the Judiciary.S.1034,S.1431,S.2109,bills relating to the assult weapons ban,are before the Senate Judiciary Committee. I am not a memeber of these committees, but as a past memeber of the NRA's Board or Directors I have long been a supporter of our Second Amendment rights.I believe that controlling guns is no substitute for controlling criminals, and should this issue come to the Floor of the Senate for a vote,I will keep your concerns in mind .
With best wishes,
Cordially,
Ted Stevens .
OK Confession time . I am totaly new to RKBA activism . In fact I had zero involvment in it until this March .I have no idea what these bills Sen. Stevens is talking about are or how to find out what they are . Please help direct me to more info concerning these bills .To me it looks like there are a lot more dogs in this fight than I first thought.
