So I bit the bullet on a Tikka 270. I am thinking about putting a VX3i 3-10X40 scope on there for deer hunting. I am a max point blank range hunter, no dial turning. Would you recommend this scope or a different scope? I usually stick to less than 600 total and fairly light weight scopes.

I have a VX3 3.5-10X40 on my 7mm Rem Mag . It has been there for 20 years. I to adjust my hold for the shot not the scope. Zeroed in for 200 yards less than 8" low at 300. I will not shoot past 400 though the cartridge and rifle are capable past that.

I'd recommend one. I've got the CDS version on my .375, and while I only took it out for distance a few times, it's spun up and down accurately.
We put an Athlon 2.5-15x50hmr on a friends .270wsm T3x, and while I like the scope better, it's bulky for the rifle.

I've got a VX3i 3.5-10x40 on my M7 in .223 and I really like it.

Mine has the CDS dial, but I spend most of my 300 yd shots just using the junction of the thin and wide duplex.

I like the CDS, but so far have left most of mine with just the MOA graduations. I just print a dope chart for my load laminate it and tape it to the side of the stock.

I bought 2 of the 4.5x14x40 vx3i 30mm with CDS in the last year when I found them on sale for right at 5 a piece. I'm really liking them for their weight and the 40mm objective. They are clear and bright as well. I got tired of my bulky 50mm scopes. I got my one free CDS for the load I use on one rifle and it is spot on and so easy. The other I am just using MOA markings as mentioned for now. I am a fan of the plain old duplex reticle as well.

The Leupold would be my 2nd choice, and not a bad one at all. But I think this is a better scope for less money.

This is the Zeiss Conquest scope. This version was always made by Meopta in the Czech Republic and sold with Zeiss labels on it. Since Zeiss discontinued it Meopta has continued to make it and have sold it under 2 or 3 different names. It is 3-4 oz heavier than the Leupold, but at 15 oz not what I call heavy. And the Tikka is light enough that you can afford a few more oz in the scope.

NOT BASHING Luepold,as there's a dz or so here but, if you're into "dialing" they wouldn't be my first choice. As a,set it and forget it,hunting scope.... they're peachy.

I like my Leupold’s but yes I’d probably purchase another brand too if I were to dial.

so that cabelas meopta is the same as the current meopta meo star models as well, correct?

Do you have this model, and if so does it seem heavy? Lists at 17 oz which is not overly heavy in my view.

For what you are describing your hunting style, consider the Leupold 2.5-8 VX-3i scope too. Very light for a variable, and it fits the T3 very well. That's how I have mine set up.

Oddly, I had the Zeiss conquest 3-9 mounted first, but found it too heavy and too long for purpose. Very nice scope, great optics and etched reticle, but too big for the Tikka for my uses.

Here's what I mean: besides the weight, a bit long. The "after" rifle has a Bell and Carlson stock too. I'm sure, with the generous eye relief, I could have moved the Zeiss forward a bit, but the Leopold just fits. IMG_0080.JPG 20180930_151627.jpg
