This concerns the new Leupolds (last few years) and the redfields. Does anyone besides me dislike the new finger adjustable knobs on these? They seem to be the same deal on the Leupold and Redfield I am assuming same parts are used. I am talking about the VX1-VX2 lines with finger adjustable knobs. I have three of these. When you go to move the first click there is at least one click worth of slop or funny movement. Not just a solid click. Then after you set the knob, you can get a sort of slop in either direction if you grab the knob and try to turn lightly. I hate this. I much prefer my older leupold Vari XIII and VX1. The (circa 2002) Vari XIII scope has coin slot but very precise and solid clicks with absolutely no middle ground. The friction dials speak for themselves. Mine have never moved. It is to the point that I don't think I will buy another Leupold with these finger knobs and I am disappointed. Do the new VX3 also have these same finger adjustable knobs or do they have the old style? I have even sent one scope back to Leupold to try and take the play out. The knobs came back tighter (harder to turn) but you can still get the one click of play after set the knob and try to wiggle it.
