The little 5.7x28MM cartridge is one that I've taken an interest in. The way I see it... it is something of a rebirth of the .22 Hornet, but in a shorter rimless and half priced package. It is also more efficient and I'm betting it is more accurate than the Hornet. $45 bucks for 50 rounds of Hornet. $22 bucks for 50 rounds of 5.7... and that is with a good Hornady V-Max bullet.
Yet the 5.7 has one slight problem for it to be appreciated as a sporting cartridge. There are no sporting rifles in the caliber.
I talked to CZ, and they have ZERO interest in a 527 in 5.7... which was a first choice. Christensen wont touch it. Shilen makes a Remington barrel for it, but this doesn't solve the issues of bolt face and magazine.
Anyone else out there who would like something like a light 527 Carbine in 5.7?
