Yesterday I went to the Lakeland (FL) gun show. While there I picked up a 6.5x55 in a small ring M98 action, fitted with a Swede M96 barrel, that has about the ugliest stock I had ever bought. While I have lots of Swede GI ammo and several boxes of Norma, naturally, I want to reload for this rifle. I have found lots of data on deer loads, but was looking for something in print on mild cast 6.5 stuff in the 1200 to 1600 fps neighborhood. I have several boxes of LBT 155 grain I was hoping to use. Any ideas from the family out there?

Steve,

Lyman 48 has their #266469 140 gr round nose with gas check cast bullet#2 alloy sized to 0.264" with IMR 4227 starting@17grains for a velocity of1630 and a MAX of 25 grs @2098 fps. The IMR4227 was ther most accurate powder at the starting load. They used Federal brass and Fed 210 LR primers.

There is a 150 gr available also, and other powders if you have a specific powder in mind PM me and I'll see if I can come up with the loading from the Lyman cast bullet manual

16.0 grns of 2400. The load that works great in every case capacity from the 7.62X39 to the 30-06. It is position insensitive and accurate.

If you want to reload cast bullets for anything, you need to buy the Lyman #49 reloading manual.

And/or the Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook 3rd. edition.

get a Lyman reloading manual. They sell for $19.99 and have load data for cast bullets in every caliber.
