I'm looking for a light target load for my RBH 4 5/8 41 magnum Rigt now I'm running 210 gr boolits
from my RCBS mold with 8,5 gr of Unique and that load is not fun for me to shoot
any suggestions

I have used 6.0 grains of Unique with the 210 gr, cast SWC for 840 fps.
5.5 grains of Unique would be a load to try if 6.0 proves too much .
If you encounter soot on the magnum cases you can anneal them so they expand at lower pressures , I did this to a box of 50 and use them for light loads 0nly...my 41 special loads .
I have some " 41 special " , as I call them , loads using powders other than Unique , Bullseye , Red Dot , HP-38 and AA #2 ......what powders do you have or what powders can get ?

X-Treme 210 Gr Plated TrFP @ 1.550 OAL
10.5 Grs True Blue
WLP Primer
Medium Taper Crimp

90 Degrees

S&W 4" M-57
6 shots ea PB - PF
HI 1074 - 1035
LO 1029 - 988
AVG 1040 - 1013
ES 45 - 47
SD 17 - 21

Settled down nice at 10.5 Grs. Not super light, but definitely not full blown max.

From the Western Powders 6.0 PDF with a 210 Gr XTP
210 HDY XTP 9.0 1,050 11.0 1,200 32,000 1.580

Check data, be careful, work it up, use at your own risk.

Ah, just reread this, so my load above will be more than what you are looking for. I would suggest a light load of Clays, WST, or Competition, as all three do better than most in large cases and light charges. I am not a fan of Titegroup, but many like it for this type of application as well.

With the RCBS 210 #41-210-SWC ( Light Loads) 41 Magnum - all loads are in the 750 to 800 fps range
4.0 grs. Bullseye
5.0 grs. Bullseye

4.2 grs. - Red Dot
5,2 grs - Red Dot

4.5 grs - HP38
5.0 grs - HP38
W231 and Hodgdon HP38 are the same powder , use the same data

5.5 grs - Unique
6.0 grs - Unique

OK LD13 , these loads should get you started. They all shoot fine in my model 58 w/ 4 inch barrel , and are much more pleasant to shoot than heavy loads , if you go lower in charge weight just make sure the bullets exit the barrel.

Annealing of the hard magnum case may be required if sooty brass is experienced .

I load 210 cast with 7 grains of Unique, a little under 1000fps as I recall.
I have also used Red Dot with good results, 5 grains I think but I don't have my data with me so check a couple manuals.

Awesome thank you I will make up some loads to try out

ooh, ooh, I know this one!

About 5 gr of Titegroup under a 210-215 gr LSWC - OAL 1.585".
(Lee mold TL410-210-SWC )
Hodgdon calls for 4.5 - 5.5 gr

Light recoil - my favorite load.

Unique is not very position sensitive, I would just back off your charge of Unique until you find a charge that you can shoot comfortably.

Not to beat a dead horse, you might also investigate some different grips...

The grips are fine and fit my hand well

Speaking of .41's... I have 2 Smiths, a 57 and a 58, I have the target grips on the 57, and the Magna grips on the 58... and while they fit my hands well enough, I do NOT shoot the pistols with the OEM grips. When we go shooting, I swap in a set of Pachmayr Gripper Decelerators... they take the punishment out of shooting either one. No, they don't look very nice, but they sure do work. Just depends on what you are looking for... if you are just poking paper, a low velocity load would probably work just as well.

Just thought that i would report back I sent my cylinder out to be reamed out to .412 I would get bad leading today i went shooting put
150 rounds down range using the load of 6gr of Unique 6.5 and 7gr of Unique all were nice shooting my 6gr load shot the best at 20 yards
so I'm going to stick with that load for now 20181025_135258_resized.jpg

I recall back when I was loading Clays, I found I could use a .7cc Lee dipper (4.8grs, with the Lot# I was using, landed in the middle of Hodgdon's Cowboy Action data) for .357 (158gr LFP), .44Mag (240gr LFP, SWC), and .45Colt (255gr LFP)... didn't kick bad at all. The .41Mag with 210gr cast lead bullet, for case capacity and bullet weight, falls right between .357 and .44Mag, but consult some published data first.

Edited to add that I hadn't seen post #15, but that picture is good to see.

7.4 grains of Power Pistol with that 215 lead is pretty snappy in my 3 inch 41 Special GP100, so it ought to be a pretty good target load in a bigger gun with magnum brass. 13 grains of A2400 is another serious load in 41 Special that might adapt well. These loads are from Brian Pearce in the context of 41 Special.

4.5 to 5.0 grs of Trail Boss makes a good light target load in the .41 mag using a 210 to 215gr lead bullet producing a velocity of between 750 to 800 fps. Very similar to a typical .45 acp semi wad cutter target load.
