So i have been stuck for a while trying to decide on which rifle to get to shoot multigun limited. I have a pretty nice m4 but would need to get a different barrel if i am going to use this. I have been looking at PF's and thinking about going with something that i can make major PF with (320). What rifle do you use, and why? would you recommend going with a .308 to make major? I have been looking at the JP LRP-07. What do you think about this gun in competition?

Limited, huh? Good on you.

There are so few big matches these days that run under USPSA Multigun rules, that I wouldn't worry about making Major PF. Unless, that is, you really want to shoot in Heavy Metal division.

Other than that, you're looking in the right place with JP. JP makes some of the finest competition rifles you can get. Also look at the LaRue Tactical PredatAR, and the Bravo Company SS410 rifles.

Dont worry about Major. Get a rifle in 223 and dont look back.

6.5 x 39 to major is gonna be hard. Much easier with the 30 Covert or 300 Whisper.

I do have a 16" barreled 5.56x45mm AR. Was considering getting an 18" 6.5x39mm upper.

I'm getting into 3gun this spring. For the pistol, I don't know if I can get away with a G17L, but if not I have a G20 set up pretty much the same way, which is mostly stock save adj. night sights and a few very basic mods to better suit me. It certainly has more power, but still holds a lot of rounds. I have a G21 in .45ACP if that is better. For the shotgun, all I have a M500, so I'm kind of forced into getting the Benelli (isn't it the "unspoken but required" shotgun to compete, meaning all the others put one at a disadvantage?).

And for the rifles. I have my SOPMOD clone I built using a 14.5" LMT upper and bling pinned AAC Brakeout mount with a KAC M4 rail --non-FF, and a Noveske lower with a Geissele 3gun trigger and MIAD grip (those are pretty nice actually). It has a mil spec collapsible stock, but it is getting a B5 soon --I like the battery storage and solid cheek rest. Other parts are JP and mil spec only. It sports a Surefire weaons light for HD and a broomhandle grip with flip up 600m KAC rear backup sight, but standard front sight tower for M4 in the front. An EoTech is the reflex sight for it. I can accturately and quickly engage 12" plates at 200y with this rifle no problem, and that trigger is a FINE 3gun trigger. I got the flatbow, much faster for me, and though the Wilson was great, it wasn't worth the extra AND losing the flat bow. The Geissele 3gu, that trigger is FAST!

Oh yeah, and those AAC Brakeouts, which appear at first glance to be a gimmick and not realy something that would work, I'd like to dispell that myth. I got one by mistake, I ordered a Blackout hider and got a Brakout instead, and my wife who picked it up didn't know the difference. I was upset, but because they were so far away at the time I didn't want to bother with a refund and waste the time. Basically, I got if less because they undercharged me, they sold me a Blackout but gave me the new at the time Brakeout. So I tried it. To my amazement, this thing kills more flash than a military flash hider by far, and works better than a lot of others too. Without the a muzzle attachment, the flash was a huge balloon at night. With the Brakeout, I got minimal flash AND decent reduction in recoil. Most flash came as a small, dim, quick flash on the sides, and a very small flash in the front. VERY small. I was impressed and will keep mine now. The actual Blackout flash hiders though, well, nearly 99% or 100% flash reduction in 5.56, 6.5G, and 7.62. Soon .300BLK. Amazing, they'd be worth it if they didn't mount suppressors.

My Grendel, it is a little more adanved with a 20" Satern barrel and a 7.62 ACOG and though it shoots sub-MOA groups (I expected half-MOA, but it is half even of that!) it needs a better scope, I just can't afford it right now. I'd like to swap out the receivers too. Perhaps use a Noveske matched upper and lower, a hi-speed Geissele trigger, whatever. It has a KAC FF rifle length handguard and bipod and broomhandle grip. It is basically a rifle I built that was my "dream SDM rifle" in the army. One mean machine, it really is super accurate and if AR's, M16's, or M4's feel comfortable to you, it is hard to go wrong with this hard hitter. The rifle, is, in my opinioin the best AR design out there. It basically stretches the design and uses a very high BC bullet that falls just between the 5.56 and 7.62 depending on ammo, and in my opinion, flexible enough to replace both of those calibres and just tailor Grendel ammo.

As a side, the AMU at Ft. Benning was using Grendels in the last competition I saw, but I think that was last years. They had some JP Ent. looking stuff it seemed. They make good stuff and cater to 3gun just so you should know. Their "Tactical" bolt carrier is one of the finest I've ever used, I'll try to use it in all my future builds. Their lower parts kit has everything but the trigger for about $35? Great quality small parts. Good luck!

Well, that's a lot of info, thanks.

My current AR has a fixed short ("Sully") stock. I only have about a 12.5" LOP (considerably less when shooting squared-up in body armor), and my GF weighs about 125, so we can both use/need short LOP stocks.

I especially appreciate learning about good gear that's not horribly expensive. I'd have to check what's on my rifle, aside from the Stag Arms upper, Accupoint scope and Noveske KX3 flash/blast suppressor.

Does look like a great piece. I think a 1 in 8" twist is probably better in general, and I see they offer it just as an upper, as well. :)
