Llama Especial .22lr

Alright guys, I know all about the hate for Llama but I have a few questions on a little known varient. It is a Especial .22lr. It looks like a mini-1911. It it similar to the .380 version but is in .22lr.

Here is the deal, I am a true sucker for medium sized .22lr autos for some reason. One of my favorite guns is my Bersa .22lr. I am looking to buy a Beretta 87 Cheetah as well. I prefer DA but this Llama a SA like a 1911. It was pretty rusty and had some pits on a few places on the slide. My friend bought it at the last gunshow we went to for $80 and took it home and cleaned it and replaced needed parts. He got it working and now it seem to shoot pretty well.

My question is, how much would you pay for a ugly Llama .22lr? I know he paid $80 but he also put a lot of work and money into it. He probably has $130 in it with the new parts he ordered from Numrich. Is it worth $100? The finish is really ugly. Cold blue in spots and pitted in others. I would rank the finish as 0% because of this. It would be just a plinker.

That's a tough one. I enjoy .22 pistols of different sorts as well, so I know what you are talking about. An unreliable .22 pistol quickly becomes a dust catcher. A good .22 pistol always goes to the range.

If you don't have a .22 pistol, and this one shoots reliably, and there are no other choices, then yes, it's worth $100.

Heck, it's a friend. If you like the pistol, give him an extra 20 bucks over what he paid, and have a good time with the gun. A hundred dollar .22 pistol is not that easy to come by nowadays, especially one you can try out before buying. Just don't expect to get your money back if you trade it in.

The Model XV "Especial" Llama .22 LR with its blowback mechanism is a POS. Not reliable even with hyperammo...Save your money....BTW, comparing it even slightly to a 1911 is ludicrous.

I didn't mention it but I did get to shoot it a little yesterday and it seemed to work fine. It bites my hand a bit so I have to be careful. Also if I really grip it hard, it pushes the grip safety in too far and it won't fire. If I grip it normally, it is fine. I don't know if there is a fix for that or not.

It is actually more like a 1911 than my Star BM is. It takes down like a 1911 and it even has a grip safety. It is not a real 1911 of course but it is very close in a lot of ways only smaller. It could make a great 1911 trainer since it works the same and takes down the same. I use my Bersa as a trainer for my Beretta 92fs and it has really helped my DA/SA transition shooting on the Beretta. I very used to the DA/SA on the Beretta now that I don't feel like I am throwing away the first shot to get to the SA follow up shots. I am just as accuract with the DA trigger now as with the SA.

I have the .380 version of this gun that is also a blowback. The older versions used to be a locked breach in .380 only. Mine is 100% reliable with ball ammo and seems well made. It is an older Stoeger import.

LLama 22lr.!!!

I bought one of these little clunkers a long time ago. The first time I took it out, it went full Auto on me!!! It peened the firing pin and it wouldn't retract like it should. Took it back the same day and have never had anything to do with LLama's since!!!

I love that little Llama, just because it looks so cool. I think it looks like a half sized version of a 1911. I had a chance to buy one ten years ago, and passed, and now it's on my "to buy" list. Not that I think it's a great shooter, or collectors gun. Just because I like it. Heck I can spend $150 on a night out bowling and pizzas with beer. Why not have a little black auto if it makes you feel good. I'm buying the next one I see
