Found a fair condition Llama Airlite 22lr at a local gun shop, the owner said they would reblue the slide for free (but the gun is $250 a little high I am thinking) Its a nice little gun, 1/2 size 1911 I would say. But I have never heard of this gun, have yet to find a single shred of information on the net about it. I am tempted just to pick it up for the curio factor. But I'd like something that is not a jammomatic...

Anyone have any info or experience with this model of Llama?

Thanks!

I finally found a pic..

After typing doing a goole of "Llama Especial" which it has on the other side of the slide i found one photo of it:

Its not a bad lookin' gun, can't wait to get it to give it a try when it comes back from getting reblued... hoepfully I didn't get a lemon. But at least it gets the curio part of my safe...

I have the modern Llama 380acp equivilant model, the micromax. Never had any trouble with it. $250 seems a little high for the 22lr version you mention, especially if it is worn enough to need the slide reblued even if free, but I've been looking for a 22 version for a while now and they are either overpriced or you just don't see them. I even find a 32acp version here and there but the 22lr one eludes me. I don't have the blue book in frontof me but I think the alloy frame 22 version is worth a premium while the modern alloy version 380 is worth less but I could have that backwards.

I like the concept of these mini 1911 clones. One of the reasons I want one is I want a 1911 pattern gun in 22 rimfire and I was less than impressed with the less than stellar performance or 22 conversion kits on my friends Kimber but to be fair he does not follow the ammo reccomendations and the gun was sort of dirty.

Also Sigpacker, try the Spanish handgun forum at www.gunboards.com. Lots of good info and there is a fellow called Bob in St.Louis who is quite knowledgeable on Spanish weapons. Not many people collect Spanish hardware, I do so casually, so it can be hard to find good info, especially as many people say they are of poor quality but the best Spanish pieces can equal what comes out of the best American and Euro gun companies sometimes.

Thanks for the link to the other site/forum found some favorable reviews about this particular gun. Cant wait to get it back from reblueing :D

Resuscitating an old thread here... I just acquired one of these (Airlite .22) for ZAR 750, that's $100 exchange-rate wise or 7 1/2 flats of beer, depending on you value system :) Date code is H1 which makes it a 1962 model, I think.

I find the later Spanish handguns to be quite well made and very interesting.

So SigPacker, how does / did yours shoot?

Edit : some good info here http://www.littlegun.be/arme espagnole/llama/a llama gb.htm
