LNIB Sig With Rusty Slide That Eats Frame!

I recently bought a Sig P-220. I was LNIB and appeared to only be factory test fired. Firstly, I have no fault with the seller, but I do have a problem I want opinions on.

Slide - Upon close inspection, it has surface rust, which only shows up in very good lighting, but it's there. There is a small defect in the slide that is chewing into the frame. The very rearward left slide rail has a slight high spot that has damaged the frame to a small degree.

Frame - At first, I thought the frame/slide rails were wearing in. After 150 rounds I was doing a thorough cleaning and realized the slide had eaten into the frame.

My question is, does anyone think this is something Sig would correct? I can stone the slide rail to eliminate the frame contact, but if do, Sig rightfully wouldn't be obligated to repair it. I can live with the surface rust, don't like it, but I can live with it.

The pistol is a fantastic shooter and I plan on keeping it. What do you guys think?

First of all you bought the gun used so I don't think Sig will help. How old is the gun? That looks like rust pits. And believe it or not the wear on the frame is what Sig would call normal.

Actually, that wear looks normal. Mine all did it. It would stabilize at that point and did not continue to wear. The roll pin (which function escapes me at the moment) also tends to get mashed and peened over; again, it never caused me any problems. As for the surface rust ... finish durability (it is only bead-blasted bluing over carbon steel) was not these older SIGs' strong suit.

Don't know the age, the SN is GXXX-231. It's a newer USA/NH made pistol.

The anodizing loss is normal. The wear I am concerned with is actually metal removal about .003-.005" deep in one spot.

I won't worry about the wear to much unless you notice it getting much worse as you fire more rounds.

That hole with the more wear than usual is where the pin to ejector is correct? Throw some FP10 or weaponshield on it and call it good.

No, that's normal wear. The pic unfortunately doesn't highlight the small "chunk" missing at the rear of the frame. The loss of anodizing is normal, it's this little crater that has me somewhat concerned.

I'm going to stone the small riser on the slide and call it good.

Just a note, Sigs like to run wet. That means lube the slide rails and etc. to what you normally would consider excessive and leave them wet. Wipe away the excess but don't leave them dry.

Better yet, get a good grease, namely Enos Slide Glide or at a minimum TW-25B.
