So I have several Sig P6 pistols and the nicest one is an almost new '98. However the very top of the frame is showing scratches from the slide, and while I see very minor rub marks on some of the other P6's, this one is bare aluminum. I cannot detect any burr or machining marks on the slide rails and I use proshot gun grease to lubricate the rails and no +P ammo.
My concern and question is this: Does the top of the frame bear any of the slide cycling forces, or is that all handled by the square rail channels on the sides of the frame? And are these marks detrimental to the life of the pistol? The rail channels on the frame are in perfect condition; I doubt more than a few hundred rounds have been through this gun.
