I know that some guys like to use a hand priming tool to prime their brass and then run it through their LNL progressive press. Do any of you that do that run the primed brass through the LNL Case Feeder? I'm wondering if that would be a dangerous thing to do.

Since I couldn't get any opinions on THR, I e-mailed Hornady for their opinion on running primed cases through their case feeder and got the following reply.

"That should not be a problem. Remove the #1 die. We run primer case through all the time." Per Bob Palmer of Harnady.

I have had no problems priming rifle brass as part of the LNL progressive process. I use the case feeder to move the One Shot lubed brass to the sizing die. Then let them all circle around to the catch bin. Tumble, check case OAL, refill case feeder, remove sizer die, get busy on the roller handle.

Why hand prime?

What i usually do is run them through once lubed and size and deprime them. then i take them and trim and swage and tumble if needed and then run them back through with the sizing die removed and prime, charge and seat bullets. I think that if you ran primed brass through the case feeder the rounds would tend to be tippy and the horandy system allready tends to tip cases.
