What books did you get? There should be plenty of data out there for the 250 MK...

EDIT: Welcome to THR.

Max: 98.0 gr. (compressed), velocity: 2853, pressure: 52,000 CUP

250 GR. HDY SP

I have bought the Laupa reloading ,Speer reloading and for that round you will be doing good to see TWO pages , I do not plan on shooting any HDY until they come out with the AMAX . I have been to many web sites just looking and for the SIERRA 250 gr HPBT I cant seem to find anything . I have the sierra reloading manual on order but again if i only get 2/or 3 pages that would suck..

I do thank all who have taken the time to answer, it sucks being the FNG ...

Two pages of load data for a cartridge is not ureasonable -- especially for a niche cartridge like the .338 Lapua.

I'm not sure if I'm reading your problem correctly, but remember, a load range for a 250 gr. bullet is a load range for just about any 250gr. bullet. It seems you're looking for a load published as specifically for the 250 gr. SMK, and that's just not necessary.

No manual is going to give you the, exact load that will work best in your rifle, with that bullet. They're going to give you a range of powder charges that their load developers have found to work well with bullets of that weight. You'll have to try out various loads within that range, with whatever bullet of that weight you want to use, to determine best accuracy in your rifle.

The Hodgdon manual lists Hornady bullets -- but the same load data will get you in the right range for finding your best load with the SMK, too.

FYI, I'm shooting a 1-10" and it shoots the 285 Hornady quite well. Best prices I can find is at Powder Valley.

Again thanks guys, I have a good starting point and will use the ladder system so i don't blow up my rifle. I know that every rifle is different, even rifles that are 1 number different in serial numbers. what may work in one rifle well will not work in another. I have found this to be So true in my REM 700P 300 win mag . I have 300 NEW Laupa 338 cases and have nothing but time to get it right for the rifle. When I get started reloading I want to have all my bases covered. thanks guys
