I cannot find any data for 115 grn RN using Titegroup powder I need OAL also
Have been setting my Montana Gold HP at 1.125 on top of 4.3 Titegroup & have no issues any suggestions would be appreciated

My favorite commercial ammo is Federal American Eagle, so I make my loads match that as closely as I can without a chrony. 4.7 grains and 1.146 inches, give or take a bit depending on the bullet to make the seating depth the same.

4.8gr in my longslide 1911, 4.4 gr titegroup in glock and m&p with Montana Gold 115gr fmj. Plunk test to determine OAL.

Much appreciate the info. I have used the plunk test with all my RN bullets & have found that OAL of 1.125 - 1.130 works well in my 1911 mags. I just was unsure of Hogdons data as they suggest a much smaller OAL using the PRN & titegroup. I normally use Alliant Power Pistol but in NJ no one has any powder so I have to travel to Pa just to get Hogdons. Thanks again for all the info

My newbiness, I suppose, but I find a commercial cartridge that works in all my guns of the same calibre and reload to model that bullet and OAL.

I measured the OAL of 3 different ammo manufactures & found the average OAL to be 1.154 - 1.160 Both of these OAL drop fit into my 1911 barrel I think I will start with a load of 4.3 & work up to 4.7 I am using CCI small pistol primers with mixed head-stamped brass Might even try a load of 4.3 with an OAL of 1.125 as suggested & look for any excessive pressure signs. Any additional info will be much appreciated

I will no doubt be corrected if I am off base here, but I think that OAL is less important, as long as the round feeds and properly head spaces, than the bullet seating depth. Absent any real smarts, what I do is pull the bullets of brands that I like, measure their lengths, measure their case lengths, and calculate the bullet seating depths. I then seat the bullet I intend to reload somewhere in the range of the other seating depths in an attempt to avoid pressure issues. May just be luck, but I still have all my fingers and no ruptured guns.

What I have been doing with the RN is place a brand I like in my Lee press & adjust the seating die to the bullets length. I use a very light crimp just flattening out the flare from resizing. I have been told that the smaller the OAL the higher the pressure in the case. Its been somewhat of a challenge trying to get the correct into from the many reloading books on Plated RN so I appreciate all the info you guys have given
