Can anyone help me verify some load data for my 30-06.
I'm running remington 9 1/2 primers and sierra 165 grn, hpbt and sbt bullets.
The powder i'm using is IMR 4831 because thats all the store here had available.
I'm using a lee dipper set to measure my powder.
I used the 4cc dipper which is supposed to give me 54.4 grns of this powder according to the powder measure conversion scale.
My load manual lists this load all the way up to 56.3 grns of powder but 54.4 grns fills the case darn near up to the case neck.
I looked at it and it just made me uneasy thinking about compacting all that powder with a bullet so I backed it down to 53.1 grns which gives me some case space. I wasn't sure if that was safe and I couldn't find anything in my manual about it.
With remington 9 1/2 primers, 53.1 grns of IMR 4831 and 165 grn sierra bullets i'm supposed to get around 2600 FPS.
Can Anyone verify if this is correct?
IMR didn't list this loading and neither did hogdon.
Thanks
