A question for those that run ladder loads to develop accuracy loads for their rifle.
When evaluation the groups, do you assign any different value to horizontal dispersion vs vertical dispersion?
I recently ran through some laddered loads with my .223 AR.
When the groups had both vertical and horizontal dispersion that was roughly equal I viewed the group as a representational group. However some of the groups were very nice vertically but not so much horizontally.

Vis: .61" Hor. .46" Vert.; 1.10" Hor. .35" vert. ; 1.36" Hor. 0.32" vert.

All were 5 rd groups with 52 gr. Sierra match king bullets, all the same makers brass, same primers, all flash holes deburred & reamed + TTL.
All at 100 yds, temps 89 deg. 5 ~ 10 kt variable wind from 7 ~ 8, O clock.
Rifle was bagged front & rear with a 16X target scope for the evaluation.

Your thoughts?

Roger
