loaded hand guns in glove compartment

If you are stopped by a LEO and reach for your papers with a gun visible, it will be very awkward for both of you.

I don't know that it would be awkward. Though, you might want to tell the officer the gun is there before you open the glove box.

I always keep a gun in the glove compartment along with my wallet, a spare set of keys and a Garmin programmed with my home address.

Just drive a car that looks like crap, throw trash and McDonalds bags all over inside of it, and just make sure you keep it locked and you'll be fine. Never had my car broken into :)

throw trash and McDonalds bags all over inside of it,

I've always wondered about the messes in some peoples cars. It never occurred to me that that someone would do that deliberately.

Ive been pulled over and had my gun in the car when asked for my registration. with 80% of cops, it would have been no big deal, but I got one of those that wear the badge, but don't bother learning the law. To make matters worse, he had no idea how to handle a 1911 and failed at making the weapon safe while almost pointing it directly at my face.

Basically he wasted an hour of my time and wouldn't accept the fact that I knew more about FL law than he did, even though he ended up giving me my gun back and let me go.

I think its kind of odd that he just handed the gun back to me and let me go when according to him, I had committed a felony and was a danger to myself and others (because I had the gun in condition 1). I guess all's well that ends well!

I'm thinking the officer knew the law as well as you did. He just didn't know at first you knew the law as well as he did. When he realized THAT there was nothing left to do but give back your gun ans let you go.
