Are there any single action revolvers made with the loading gate on the left, or thumb side; that is for right handed shooters?

I must be doing something wrong, because it seems awkward to me to have it there, other than the clockwise cylinder rotation that placess the first three spent cartridges on that side.

Any single actions with CCW rotation either?

PS: Who makes the old fashioned "dump pouches" for loose revolver ammo currently?

That's 'cause you're loading it wrong. To load a single action revolver, you lay it in the palm of your left hand, with the loading gate side up. You rotate the cylinder between the thumb and fingers of your left hand while inserting cartridges with your right hand. Being right handed, you are more dexterous with your right hand and thus handle those little, round slippery things with your right hand while your left hand holds the big ole hogleg.

Incidentally, you unload in much the same way. The gun is held with the cylinder laying in the palm of the left hand and the loading gate up. The right hand works the ejector rod while the left thumb and fingers rotate the cylinder.

practice makes perfect

Thank you Father Knows Best. I've been doing it as you described, however, I see I need lots of practice. That will be a good excuse to get to the range.

That old show of your namesake was full of what I call good old day values.
It is a shame that the current generation finds it boring -I suppose.

I thought the SAA was meant for left-handed use, since cavalry back then would typically use a saber with the right hand, and shoot a pistol with primarily the left?

yes there was such a beast. i think it was called the grover improved no.5
