First time ever, I opened the local Cabelas Gun Library web pages and did some wasting-some-time window shopping.

All of the prices appear to be quite high. Am I correct to assume that the accepted SOP is to start by making them an offer?
When I saw that they had a Universal M1 Carbine listed for $1499.00 :what: I came very close to spitting coffee all over my kitchen-laptop.

That's my SOP.

How well it works depends on who you talk to at the store.

I've had them tell me "we don't haggle, it'll be gone in an hour at that price anyways" (it was there three weeks later)

To "yeah, we can do that. Let me grab the rest from the back and we'll ring you up"

Then best keep any liquids away from the keyboard if you happen to look what Gunbroker has on their listings for Universals and the like. Its the same over there...

Gun prices vary considerably in different regions of the country. And folks selling on Gun Broker or Cabelas aren't selling to a specific region, but to the whole country. They set prices based on the region where they can get the most money.

There are certain guns that would be hard to sell for $500 here in GA, but would be considered a bargain in CA at $1000. Guns that would bring $1000 here in GA aren't legal for sale in CA.

Same reason PRE-BAN still has meaning in some parts of the country. (NFA excluded)
