After not having gone to a gun show in several years I went last weekend and, to my surprise, came home with the following 6" Smith & Wesson model 19-4-my first 6-incher!:what::

I got the 19-4 for $450 out the door from an out of Town seller.

A good looking revolver for a fair price. You have a winner there, see if people are patient and look around instead of jumping on the first Smith they find at a ridiculous price, they can score like you did. That piece here with the box and papers would bring about $500.00. We hear people telling us on this forum that basically any old Smith&Wesson EVEN with MECHANICAL PROBLEMS with NO box, NO papers should fetch $500-700. When that simply is NOT the case. Good job waiting and getting a proper specimen. My 6 inch 19 that I had loved the 173 grain Keith SWC loaded in .38 special brass over 12 grains of 2400 standard primers, deadly accurate load, and would not bother your wrist.

Those un-checkered Target grips are something you don't see every day.

They would bring a pretty penny all by themselves I betcha.

Yes, those un-checkered grips really caught my eye-and, they greatly enhanced the beauty of that 6" 19-4! Overall, I was a happy camper when I had left the gun show!

I've been looking for a 6" for a while; I have several 4" variants and think that a 6" would be a dandy shooter. Sadly, they are not nearly as easy to find as the 4" variants.

Good find! :)

Up here we have to "live with" the 5 and 6 inch options. I tell you, while I've shot and enjoyed a 4 inch and a snubby I really don't see any bad side of having to "make do" with my 6 inch model 19. I've shot it in some matches and it makes me look good. There are not many better for the range range or some other use where you don't require the short barrel for concealment. And they only feel the slightest bit nose heavy when you heft it right after handling a 4 inch. But 10 seconds or the first shot later that thought is gone.

It looks like you got yourself a real dandy one there. And those grips is just the cherry on top of the ice cream!

My neighbor and I were at the range yesterday. He put 300 light .38 Specials through his 6" 19-3, I put about 200 through mine, I then moved to the 4". Both are great guns. We were shooting golf balls out to 30 yards. Not hitting them very often at that range, but often enough to make it fun. We load and shoot at the same ball in a little competition.

Great price.

If you are going to shoot it a lot D/A I have been very happy with the Wolff full power mainspring.

1)Thanks for the tip about the Wolff full power mainspring.

2)I'm going to try the 19-4 first to see how I'll like it, before I'll attempt making any changes.

Did the grips come standard on this model or are they aftermarket? Please post a range report.

Great looking revolver and a excellent price. I was lucky too and found one just like yours. Only difference mine did not have the box. Mine cost $269 out the door.

Enjoy shooting yours,

Wow! Only $269 out the door-I must be living in the wrong part of CA! Congratulations, on acquiring your nice lookin' model 19 at such a fantastic price! Deals like that don't grow on trees! However, I confess that I once got a similar deal on a Colt Python! Both of our good deals on our M19's, just goes to show that we Californian's can find such deals via staying out on the hunt-and, not giving up too soon!

This Model 19 belongs in the FOR SALE section of THR.

When it goes there, consider this post my "first dibs."
