So yes my local gunstore forced me into joina cult. That of the 870 Express owners (proabably the second largest cult in the country;) )
but ohh well atleast i am getting a good gun
So here is how it went down (a little long. sorry venting)

A week and a half ago i ordered a Benelli Nova 12 Ga Pump 28'' Barrel for $285. With a $50 deposit till it comes in. So i get a call yesterday from the shop Benelli has a backorder on the Nova till God knows when. If you would come in we can discuss what you would like to do.

So i go in to get my $50 back. Simple as that. NOT QUITE they can only give me store credit for my $50 bucks. so a little perturbed i ask what other 12 ga 28'' they have in stock. hmm a Verona Autoloader for $279. I have never heard of Verona, guy working their couldn't tell me how they are nor could the professional shotgunner they have working there. but 279 tells me it's CRAP. :cuss:

I like the feel of the 870 so i said what can we do about ordering that? He says they distributor has a synthetic 28'' so i can be in in less than a week. I say ok how much? $300 i tell him i think that's a little high so he is throwing in the skeet choke tube too.

Well when it comes down to it i think i am getting shafted BIG TIME.
Lets compare:

Benelli - Chambers 3.5'' shells, has a fiber optic site, comes in a hardcase, 3 choke tubes. And is 15 dollars less.

Remington - Chambers 3'' shell, single bead site, comes in a cardboard box, 2 choke tubes, and is 15 dollars more expensive.

Hmm i have to spend 15 dollars more, still have to buy a hardcase and a fiber optic site. and i still can't fire a 3.5'' shell!!!!!!!

Unless he comes through with some major customer service between now and payment time. I will never do business there AGAIN. and let people know that they should go elsewhere as well.

am i over reacting by being angry?? never bought a gun from a dealer before?? Is this normal? Any suggestions.

I know i will like the $870 i just feel i am paying way to much for it and there is nothing i can do.

Sorry for the rant
Jeremy

if you had your heart set on a nova, 50$ woulda went a long way on keeping it fed, with steel and tougnsten ammo as high as it is, or even a case of the cheap stuff to practice up on. i would've went somewhere else and just bought the gun i wanted and got ammo from the dude that screwed me.

the problem with that is that no one in a 200 mile radius has the nova with 28''. so they would all have to go to the factory. and i need the gun by next saturday. it's not that i had my heart set on the nova i know i am getting a great gun. i just feel i am having to pay too much.

That sucks.

If you payed with credit card I'd tell them to stick it and dispute the charge with your credit card company. I don't see why they won't refund your money considering that the item was on a backorder status. The dealer never sent your money to his distributor, he just kept it in his coffers.

$300 dollars for a Remington 870 isn't too far off the mark for most gun store prices that I know of. You could have gotten the same gun at Walmart for $250.00 out the door.

right but the semi auto verona is 6 dollars cheaper than the benelli a pump. a semi for that cheap something can't be right.

If you haven't already OK'd the deal how about using the $50 for ammo (if after raising a fuss over it they still won't budge, it isn't like you were the one to cancel the otherwise done deal) and then go to Walmart or a sporting goods store for a Remington 870 for $250-270 or a Mossberg 500 for $200-250?

A remington 870 can be had used from $99 and new from $199.

It is ridiculous that you have to put up with this crap.

you may want to get $ 50 in ammo and leave this S***hole permanently.

In my neck of the woods, there are Benelli's on the shelves, and 870's run about $250.00 new. Combos run a little over $300.00. Here's a side blurp on Verona semi-autos. They're made in Italy and assembled in Turkey.

Yes it is. I am giving them one more chance to show me some customer service. if they do i will buy from them again and suggest them to everyone. but if they don't come thru i will never buy from there again and tell everyone and i mean everyone not to do business there, because it is a lot less of a hassle to go somehwere else. I will release the name of the particular store in about 20 minutes after i give them one more chance.

Verona shotgun

The Verona S/A is a really well designed smoke pole. It is a copy of the Franchi semi-auto (made in Brescia Italy) the parts are Italian, but Veronas are assembled elsewhere. Probably the best bargain in an every day shotgun in today's market.:)

i saw 6 Novas in the rack at Galyans tonight

the distributor that your store uses maybe out of stock but with duck season coming on i kinda doubt they are out of channel

Benelli is a direct buy only . There is no distributor/middleman or channel . If Benelli is out of stock , it's "the waiting game" .

Baloney! I'd threaten to take the owner to small claims court for the $50 plus court costs, and if he failed to cough up the $50 on the spot, complete with apology, I'd take his back side to court. There's no justification for treating customers that way.

well i gave them one more chance. i told them that i felt 300 was expensive compared to what others have paid and other stores are charging in the area. he then told me that i must not be talking to the right people because there is no way that anyone got an 870 from $250-$280. i tell him to call dicks sports and bass pro. Ohh guess what they both sell them for $279. i told them that if he sold me the gun for 280 i would have my friend come in and put 50 dollars down on the Benelli. so he says he needs to look into it and call me back. he calls me back and says he can't budge on the price.

So, he just lost a whole lot of business. some people are more worried about making money now then investing in customer service to kepp people coming back. well they can only do this crap to people for so long before people figure it out and no one wants to shop there.

so hopefully the next time i decide to go there it will be for their going out of bussiness sale:cuss:

just a thought. I am only 20, so if i were 20 years older do you think the service would be any better????

I think the reason that i am so pissed over the situation is that the Liberals are making it hard enough to get our firearms, and now i have this particular gun shop making hard to get a simple pump shotgun.

So i guess i would put these jerks in the same catagoery as the liberal anti's.

Sorry for the rant everyone i am just very frusturated. and by the way this is my first new gun purchase. thought it would be an enjoyable time.

Whew! With the title of this thread, I though you might have bought a Glock.:D

$300 for an 870 express might be a little high, they run about $270-280 around here.

At least you weren't looking for a Browning BPS. I recommended one of these to a friend who was looking to buy his first shotgun because he was left handed. I helped him find one by searching all of the gunshops within 100 miles. After 2 months of looking, he finally found a chain store that could order one in from a store 3 states away.:banghead: He was really patient and loves the shotgun he has now- I would be very difficult for me to have that much patience when it came to a gun buy.
