Looking for a replacement barrel for my 8 shot Mossberg 500 12ga. Want to get a barrel with changeable chokes. Needs to be 20".

This is for 3 gun and tactical competitions, I need a choked barrel. Don't want to buy a new gun (yet), so buying an 870 or a Benelli is not an option.

There are lots of 20" Accuchoke barrels that are set up for a 5 shell tube. I don't need these. There are lots of 28" accuchoke barrels set up for 8 shell tubes. I don't want these either.

Mossberg used to make these, now they're scarce.

Anyone have a source for these on the internet?

Reply or email me, please.

If it's a matter of moving the magazine tube support than i can do it.
I think the price is around $150.00 for the work and re-bluing the barrel or $100 for the work and coating the barrel.
The tube support is silver soldered on so there is some heat discoloration for the un-soldering and soldering on of the piece.

Thanks Paul, I might take you up on that. However, I have a place locally that might be able to thread my existing barrel for chokes, for around $100 he'll do the threads and include a choke.

Because a friend of mine was able to find just the barrel I'm looking for (20", threaded, 8 shot) last fall, I was hoping to find another barrel before I send mine to his shop.

If the barrel doesn't show up, and for whatever reason my local shop can't set up my barrel for chokes, I'll get in touch with you. Since this route involves both buying a new barrel and having it worked on, this is the most expensive option I'm faced with, but at least it's an option, since I seem to be running short on them.

Can you have the 28" barrel cut to 20"? Seems to me like that would be easier than moving the magazine screw-in stud thing, or whatever it's called.

I thought you had a barrel ready to go,yes with the price of a new barrel and the work it is alot.
If your shop can't get to the choke tube instalation let me know,we do that also, most makes for $100.00 with 1 tube, the only thing else is shipping is getting to costly these days.

I think shortening the 28" barrel defeats the main purpose, which is getting chokes for the barrel. This would put me back where I am, which is a 20" chokeless barrel.
