So I was cleaning my XD45 just now and when I went to put it back together, I slid the top slide on and pulled it back so as to lower the disassembly lever but when I pulled the slide back it locked in the rearmost position. I can not for the life of me move it at all. Something must be blocking it from moving on the inside part where I cant see... anyone have any ideas on what I can do?

Don't own an XD, but have you tried putting an empty magazine back in, to see if that has any effect at all?

What shipwreck said!

I remember a very similar situation discussed and remedied on the xd forum. Try the search function or simply post and I'm sure someone will help.

I searched on xdtalk and I found the solution. Thank you very much.

Please post it here so that in the highly unlikely event XD Talk goes away (b'bye, PDO) the answer will still be searchable.

Was it that you needed to flip the assembly lever back forward? I had some reassembly issues with my xd back when I had it, and I just played around with various controls until it the slide unlocked.

Apparently several people have had this problem. Here is the link to the thread that addressed my problem: http://www.xdtalk.com/forums/latest-hs2000-sa-xd-faq-stickies/45123-fix-slide-stuck.html

In particular, this is what I did and what fixed it for me. "lab_guy" wrote:

"I had a similar situation but really really jammed it up. I called SA and they had a new approach that worked really easily. They had me use a crescent wrench and pull the guide rod forward. In my case that didn't work so well so I tapped the crescent wrench lightly with a hammer and poof did the trick. If you want more details you will have to call SA as I'm not sure if I'm supposed to be giving out any advice. The customer support at SA is great."

So basically, the problem is that the guide rod was not aligned correctly when I tried to reassemble my pistol. Therefore, this made my barrel dip down and get stuck. I just took a wrench and grasped it on the guide rod tightly, then I hit it it with a hammer to pull it out. Once the guide rod was out, all i had to do was dry fire it and the slide came off.
