Handing Iraq over to the UN would mean bringing back into high influence Saddam Hussein’s closest international allies, France and Russia, the two countries which invested in the Saddam regime on the largest scale, supplied him with weapons and lent him money. Both countries agreed to the disarmament of Iraq under UN Resolution 1441, with its threat of “serious consequencesâ€, then decided to veto the consequences when Iraq failed to disarm. They did not cause the war, but they did make it inevitable.

The UN should only have as big a part in the rebuilding of Iraq as they did in ridding Iraq of saddam hussien & his regime.

that is, less than Zero......:cuss: :fire:

They get the goldmine; we get the shaft.

We should tell the UN that they are welcome to do whatever they are called for in their charter and no more than that. They should be allowed to do humanitarian work, oversee human rights abuses, and bring war criminals before the International Court.

They are not a governmental body; and they should not be allowed to start being so. They will milk away the riches of Iraq for their own edification, enrichment, and furtherance; and they will set up a Socialist government that will further erode the rights and humanity of the Iraqi people.

Bush should tell them to go to Hell and stay there.

personally I think we and all of our allies should withdraw all funding from the UN and then tell them to start paying rent on their facillities in the US...sometimes the best way to evict bad tenants is to simply enforce a lease.

So they didn't want this war but they want to have a hand in it's rebuilding? That's like saying you don't want to do your job but want the money...

the only thing the UN does well is handing out food. Thats all we should let them do.

Reconstruction should go to American and British companies and to those of the willing, like Australia, etc.

Can't make them pay rent. The land the UN building is at was donated/lent by Rockefeller. I think it goes back to Rockefeller, or his heirs, if the UN leaves.

How about the UN pays its parking tickets first?!!! :cuss:

You don't pay the piper, you don't get to dance.

The Yanks, the Brits, the Aussies, the Poles, the Spaniards and some others ponied up for this show in blood; these folks get first hack.

Everybody else is invitation-only.
