Just thought I would let everyone know what to expect when ordering from these guys.
First off I have ordered from them in the past and they have spoiled me with their service. Their prices are low, the site lists their current inventory for each item and their service reps are very knowledgeable. Most of all their items have always shipped quickly and arrived in good order, that is where my only disappointment comes from.
I ordered the GLOCK Model 24 threaded barrel. I got it with their "blind markings", AKA not with their logo plastered on the top of the chamber, and I had the thing blackened with their black oxide process. Now I am guessing that they had to start from a block of steel on this one as it took over a month to receive. I tried my best to be patient but I am just not that kind of fella. We get what we pay for and all good things are worth the wait so I suppose all is well that ends well but I just thought you guys may be helped by knowing in advance that they can take a good while to do what they do up there.
The barrel itself features a feed ramp with a higher angle, i would say two or three degrees. It is also more rounded, deeper, and ends nearly exactly where the chamber begins; which lends to much more support of the case ( I will not argue as to whether or not it is needed).
The chamber is quite snug compared to the factory barrel. There is some play when you insert a round into the factory chamber, side to side and up and down, this is all but eliminated in the Lone Wolf. One thing I have noticed is that if you chamber a round, have a magazine inserted with at least one round, and try to cycle the slide by hand the base of the chambered round tends to catch on the mouth of the round in the top of the magazine. This can be over come by cycling the slide with authority, quickly, but is an error I found in a friends Lone Wolf barrel as well so don't be surprised if you experience this.
The threads are clean and free from burs and the finish, once cleaned for a few hours, looks almost factory.
I have ordered a slide from them as well as a compensator, there will be a silencer for this pistol in the future, and I will be sure to update here as well as add a YouTube video or two once I get the whole thing put together.
My intentions here are to turn my factory Model 22 into an OPEN gun for IPSC. The Model 24 is no longer made by GLOCK, for whatever reason, although you can still find a few on GunBroker. I wanted to do a threaded barrel anyway and figured I could just use my stock frame for the project.
Wish me luck and I will definitely update as to the outcome of the project.
Molon Labe!
P.S. The treads of this barrel are standard Land and Groove, but what is NOT standard about them is the twist! The factory GLOCK is right hand, or clockwise, just like every other barrel I have seen. As a lefty I am happy to see that the rifling here is also left handed, counter clockwise... for once...
