I have not looked this up (and am too lazy to do so) :) (figure might as well be honest)
I will be flying cross country and noticed a long arm I have been considering being offered not only in state but city I am going to. My gut tells me I can't buy FTF outside my home state. And I know I can't buy handgun this way.

Does anyone have any proof that its legal/not for a MN resident to buy a long arm FTF from private party in FL? Just would rather see the gun first and save $50 between shipping/FFL fees.

Since he's a private party, no you can't buy from him, but there is nothing stopping you from going there, examining the gun, and having him ship it to your FFL back home.

Yep I figured as much. (ok I knew it in my gut) but really hoped it had changed.
Funny thing is couple yrs ago it would have been legal (in round about way) :( Often the differnce between a great deal/good deal can be $50

Since it's a long gun, you can transfer it through an FFL in Florida, and take it home with you.

interpret as you wish..

(B2) From whom may an unlicensed person acquire a firearm under the GCA? [Back]

A person may only acquire a firearm within the person’s own State, except that he or she may purchase or otherwise acquire a rifle or shotgun, in person, at a licensee's premises in any State, provided the sale complies with State laws applicable in the State of sale and the State where the purchaser resides. A person may borrow or rent a firearm in any State for temporary use for lawful sporting purposes.

[18 U.S.C. 922(a)(3) and (5), 922(b)(3), 27 CFR 478.29 and 478.30]

True, provided the quoted law the previous poster quoted is followed, however, I was not about to make any assumptions on whether there would be an FFL in FL that would sell to someone in his state. Good brining that up though.

Not sure what ya'll meant by "new", as these have been around since 68.

Then the question becomes whether a resident of MN can legally (by both states' laws) buy a long gun in FL. If they answer is "yes," then I can't see why any FFL wouldn't make the transfer.
