Can a long gun(22 bolt action) face to face transaction be done legally across state lines? I live in Tn. and there is a .22 in Pennsylvania I would to buy, just wondering if this can be done legally. Thanks
Not being an expert on the laws of either state my first answer is no. A cross state line transfer must be done from FFL to FFL, if memory serves me correct.
1. The PA owner can ship it to a TN FFL to transfer to you.
2. The PA owner can take it to a PA FFL who ships it to a TN FFL to you. This is needed if you can't find a TN FFL who will except a gun from an out of state non-FFL. Some won't.
3. You can go to PA, have the PA owner take the gun to a PA FFL who can transfer it to you.
