Clayne,

I was doing some 330 yard shooting w/ my Savage .22 using CCI Stingers.

How would the Stinger compare with Standard or Blazers at that distance?

I used the Stinger because it looked like too much drop with the others.

I have not tryed for groups yet at 500 yards.

I have shot CCI Blazers and CCI Stingers side by side at 500 yards and they drop the same believe it or not... The blazers were more accurate also

Thanks. I will try them next time.

1.93 to get there according to my program. and then how ever long it takes the sound to get back.

I was playing around to see how many shots i could get off and hear them hit. 3 bang bang bang .... ding ding ding. with a bolt action! ha ha good fun. i will have to get a video of that.

That day was the first day i tried using a ballistic program to get out that far. I shot threw 2 chronographs at the same time to get an average bullet fps, used a kestrel to set my zero atmospherics.. and later that afternoon went out to the 500 yard spot. entered in the current conditions. and it told me 103 moa. adjusted. and took a shot holing chross hairs on target. missed 3 mildots to the right. second shot held for wind and hit on the second shot of the day at 500 yards. i was pretty excited

according to my program.. at 500 yards. the velocity is 610 fps and 33 ft-lbs of energy

the 40 gr bullet smashes flatter then a dime

Good to see someone shooting .22 at long distances. Most people think its impossible to hit anything past 50-100 yards simply because they haven't done it. A squirrel is about a 1 MOA target at 500 yards. Definitely visible with optics.

I shoot my 452 Lux out to 200 yards with iron sights, which is about as far as I can see a squirrel unaided. I only use scopes on range guns, I'm old fashioned on hunting rifles.

Good luck shooting MOA at 500yds with a .22LR. It's tough enough to shoot MOA consistently at 100yds. Highly unlikely at 200yds. Impossible at 300yds, etc..
