300 win mag. Blue printed 700 action renegade stock muller comp barrel 1-10 twist timney trigger atlas bipod basic sling tac rings for attachments nightforce nx8 4-32 built by Alamo precision rifles in Dallas tx. Awesome company to work with that stands behind their products and will go above and beyond the normal expectations. Only regret is not getting an adjustable cheek riser.

OK, I'll bite. And apologies in advance 'cuz I've posted this another thread:

I was going to the range today to try my rifle at 200 yds and you know what? I was on the way there and realized I'd forgotten to put it in my car!!!!! I was too wrapped up in another discussion going on in another forum!!

For the purposes of this thread I can highly recommend Howa rifles, Oryx chasses, and Vortex scopes.

I used a piece of pvc pipe insulation. I cut two pieces the same length then cut the center strip out of one piece and put it under the top piece. Took a little trial and error. The wider the underneath piece is the higher the rise so I just kept trimming it narrower until it fit right. Then camo gun taped the two pieces together and then wrapped them onto my gun. I can lay into my gun completely relaxed. Made a huge difference for serious precision work. For hunting it slows down target acquisition a little. Overall I ended up with a truly custom perfect fit for the price of a roll of camo gun tape

One thing to keep in mind is being able to remove the bolt. Gun tape isn’t reusable and I do have to remove it to take the bolt out. So deep cleaning adds the cost of tape.

E4EBAC5F-BFB8-4339-8EA7-A5E84E5F23E4.png This might not look like much. It’s a doozie —— a 1924 Mexican Mauser rebarreled to a 6.5mm Creedmoor with an ER Shaw barrel. The bedded stock can’t flex and the trigger breaks at 2.3 pounds. It’s a cross over as my hunting rifle and a long ranger. With 129 grain Hornady SST handloads I have made first shot hits at 1,000 yards on a 20” plate. It likes everything I feed it except 140 grain Nosler Ballistic Tips. As a hunting rifle it has dropped White tails like lightning with 130 grain Swift Sciroccos. The shots were 378, 388 and 410 yards.

Now that's just plain cool.

very nice! how far can you see to shoot with the light? is it white or IR? do you use it much?

nice!! what's the thing on the barrel?

How about some details walk along? That’s a classy looking setup.

Taliv that particular one in the pic is a green light. It has eye shine in excess of 350 yards and positive id out to 175. I have used it for a lot of night hunts and it’s held up well. I’m shooting right at 4000 ft pounds with a 215 hybrid. Don’t care to shoot much further than that at night. I use it in conjunction with a nightcore white on my ar. The white and green together produce a ton of light that allows me to do some serious work on pigs.

I haven't had the chance to really wring this one out yet, but it was purchased for long range. First NIB rifle I've bought in a while, too. Bergara Premier HMR Pro in 6.5 PRC, Area 419 Hellfire brake.

@Legionnaire, nice set up. I use a portable charger/power pack/power bank whatever the heck they're called for my LabRadar as well even though I have 110V at my shooting bench :). How's the brake working for you on the 6.5 PRC? I had issues at first which could well have been operator error (need to verify at some point).

That will definitely get it done. Nice combo. I hate breaks but to each their own. I know they have a place and purpose. If you don’t mind follow up with me. I’d like to know what kind of accuracy you get out of it and some ballistics. I’ve considered that cartridge several times but I just fall back to my tried and true 300 win mag

I have some long range rifles. Here are two Kimber project rifles. .308 Win (top), 6.5 PRC bottom. The .308 Win which is 8lb 12oz as shown will be used for hunting deer/elk this year but the PRC is just a toy.

I used this Tikka T3 TAC in .300 Win Mag on deer and elk this past hunting season. It'll put five rounds of Federal Vital-Shok Trophy Copper 180gr into 0.6 moa or better groups at 100 yards with little effort. I swapped out the Nightforce for a Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50mm FFP which is lighter and has more eye relief. I have some work to do on the stock such as add QD cups for sling mounting since the side mount sling attachment rings are way too noisy.

Definitely for harmonics. I’m curious as to why that ended up being the solution and what exactly it alleviated
Load development is basically three things;
Combustion
Harmonics
Ballistics
by moving the bushing along the barrel the groups with change shape and size, (harmonics) It can be a substitute tuning tool in place of seating depth adjustments as some folks stay at magazine length.
I don't use them but I knew a few fellas that did back in the day.

Exactly right Jim. I didn’t think about the mag restriction but my initial thought was to adjust seating depth to balance out the issue. Even with mag restrictions my experience has been that most guns will tighten up even with a good amount of jump if one takes time to test. 2-3k increments and you can nail down a length appropriate for the rifle. Remington and probably some others employed a similar idea with a pinch point between the barrel and the for-end of the stock. I never really tested it too much as I fully free floated the barrel and bedded the action. Then back to the three keys you pointed out combustion harmonics and ballistics. Just about every rifle I’ve ever worked with ended up being a consistent 1/2 moa or better.

I’m pretty sure people are tired of looking at pics of my precision rifles, so forgive me for doing it again

This is a Kelbly Panda chambered in 6BRA. It consistently keeps 20 shot groups inside 1 MOA at 600 yards. I’ve shot it at 1,000 as well

5MPtHxB.jpg

This is a ARC Mausingfield action .308. It also shoots 20 shot groups at 600 yards inside 1 MOA. While I did manage a 5 shot group at 1,000 that measured 5.6”, I’ve never been able to repeat it.

Uh ... no. @Nature Boy, where's the FN? :) Your photos are really good too, probably not taken with a cell phone.

Here are my heavyweight long range options.
