Back in October, my Dad gave me a 1911 that had a bad frame and a few missing parts. He thought I was going to use the parts on my 1911's.
After hearing the story of Granddad giving him a 1911, but then stolen by his brother, I felt that I had to do this for Dad so he could have one he could call his own. The SN is his initials and DOB.
BTW, I just got it back from Blue Ridge Bluing last night and assembled it.
Here's what I had to replace due to wear and modifications on the original Colt:
CASPIAN FRAME s/n JWS51629 BRILEY DISCONNECTOR
NOWLIN PRO MATCH SEAR
NOWLIN PLUNGER TUBE
ED BROWN REBUILD KIT
ED BROWN BARREL BUSHING
WOLF SPRING KIT
EMC WIDE SPUR HAMMER
COLT GRIP SAFETY
USGI MAGAZINE RELEASE
USGI EJECTOR
BROWNELLS GRIP BUSHINGS
BROWNELLS GRIP SCREWS
MAHAGONY GRIPS

I'd be speechless if I received such a gift. VERY NICE!

I just hope your Dad doesn't surf the web and find this post! :)

Can I be related to you? That's great!

You probably wouldn't like that. I'd be llike the Brother In Law that mooches off you and sits around in his underwear all day building 1911's!

My dad wants a 1911A1 but I can't buy him one for another 4 years. Stupid handgun laws.:banghead: You are a great son. He'll be a very happy father. :)

ScottsGT, Obi-Wan never told you what happened to your father...I, am your father. Now send me my 1911. :D

Great gift, I'm sure he'll love it and treasure it for a long time.

V4Vendetta: Hope you don't mind my asking, but why can't you buy your dad a gun for 4 more years? Your age, maybe?

Thoughtful and artfully executed!
He WILL be so proud of you, but I've an idea he already is!

that is a beautiful piece. sure to be a timeless gift. and... it appears to be a shooter, too.

how great of you to gift it away like that, too. good job on all accounts.

Very nice. Very thoughtful. My father was hard to gift but one Christmas my brother had Pop's old 12 gage side by side shotgun refurbished & reblued. Pop was tickled.

your a good son!!

My dad has been mentioning he wants a 1911, I think I might get him one for his retirement in 4 years. He just wants a plain jane one.

In my state you have to be 21 to buy a handgun. I will be 18 in 2 months.
