Ok, not that exciting, I know, but I was glad to find it.

My wife has a hard time racking the slide on our CZ-75 P-01, but she shoots it well. I decided to get a similarly sized 9mm, but with a bit more meat on the slide, and I have recently been watching too many Hickok45 videos, so I thought a Glock 19 (I've never owned a Glock before) might fit the bill.

So I called my usual dealer, who quoted me $540 for a Gen 3. I asked, "why not a gen 4?" and he clued me in to the issues folks have been having. This spurred me to do some research of my own, and I found out that not only are gen4's having trouble, but also recent production gen3's. In the course of my research, I found out about Glock's "first responder program", which I am eligible for as a volunteer firefighter. I called the nearest Glock LE dealer, and got the price: $400!

I drove over with a friend the next day. I had resigned myself to getting a G4, and hoping it worked, but after speaking to the salesman, he went in back and brought out a NIB '09 production G19 gen3 RTF2. I finally got to bring it home today, and of course it works without a hitch. I even splurged for the Trijicon's since the discount was so good. Anyway, I hope they get the gen4's ironed out, because I can see myself wanting more in the future.

I do like the RTF2 Glocks. I've been tempted by a lightly used G17 RTF2 at one of the local shops.

Congratulations.

It's nice looking pistol.....much easier on eyes then XD or CZ thingy with polymer frame. Most gun people do not understand haute style which the Glock pistol is.

Beautiful Glock!
Talk about an oxymoron

Haha...I can see both sides of this. I like its looks more than the standard gen3, and I really like the gen4, but the true beauty is in the simplicity and the trigger.

Just never become a training film with it, like that dea agent

I'll have you know that I am the only one in this room professional enough to own this RTF2. I am also the only one in this room.:neener:

The gun in your hand that helps save your life or the life on someone you love is always beautiful...even if it IS a Glock! :)

Sorry she had trouble with the P-01, the reversed rails can do that sometimes. I was going to suggest a P-07, more to grab there, but I hope you guys are happy with the G-rock. :)

Even the less-than-stunning guns need some love. :neener:

If you like it, go for it.
Seriously, I'm glad it works for you.

I'll keep my steel & wood, thank you.

Don't worry, plenty of steel and wood around here still, with a little aluminum for good measure. Especially the long guns, the lone plastic rifle is outnumbered about 15 to one. This plastic pistol has impressed me, though.

I may replace the P-01 with a fullsize 75 one of these days, but we'll see. It is definitely a lot prettier than the Glock. Maybe I'll get some nice wood grips for it...
