Hi. I'm looking at a used CZ 452-2E ZKM (stamped on the barrel). When I look at the CZ website, it looks just like the Lux. The owner's manual with the rifle says "Standard" on it, but I have no way of knowing if that's the manual that came with the rifle. Anyway, does that same model number apply to Lux, Standard, Varmint, Trainer, etc.?

Also, is there a website to go to to tell year of manufacture from the serial number? (I called CZ, and got kicked to voicemail several times. So I emailed them, awaiting their response. Not sure how responsive they will be since it's a used rifle).

Anything particular to look out for in a used CZ 452 rifle? Bore looks very bright, a few small scratches on the barrel, no visible rust, stock is excellent. Action feels appropriately snug but a little "scratchy" (like maybe some rough metal somewhere). I've never even held a CZ until today, so I've nothing to compare it to.

Thanks

What type of wood does the rifle have? The Lux has a walnut stock, and the Trainer has a beech stock. They probably come with the same "Standard" manual because they are the same rifle, but with different wood.

Sounds like you have a keeper there. CZs are well built rifles, and if the bore's bright and everything looks good I wouldn't hesitate to buy it.

It sounds like one that is not even broken in. The action is usually rough like that for the first 500 rounds or so.

From your description it sounds like either a Lux or a Trainer (as noted by kamagong).

What does the trigger feel like?

What is the asking price?

The link below shows the cut of the stock (including the "lip" on the fore end). The wood looks good, but not as good as the one on their website "model" (of course). I honestly don't know enough about wood to say if it's walnut or birch, but the color is similar to that in the link. I'll check out the grain next time I see it.

(if that link doesn't work, go to www.cz-usa.com, go to rimfires, and find the pic of the Lux)

The trigger felt as good as, if not better, than a good Savage Accutrigger.

Asking price is $275

Kamagong and/or CZguy - I now understand that the Trainer and Lux have what they call a "Lux" stock (the shape is the same, but the wood differs). Do they both have checkering on the grip? THANKS

I bought a used 452 Trainer at a gun show from a dealer about 6 months ago. I paid $275 and don't regret it. It too looked hardly used and the trigger has smoothed out after 500 Winchester Dynapoints - its favorite; even over CCI MMags. The beech wood on mine does have the checkering. The year of manufacture (2 digit) is stamped on the barrel - very tiny. It is a quality gun with the best iron sights of any that I own.

My Trainer has checkering on the grip.

What does the wood on the gun look like? Here are some pics of my Trainer for comparison.

Thanks for the input, guys. Kamagong, the pictures REALLY helped. Looking at your pix, I now know the one I'm looking at is beech. Thanks. The numbers on the bbl indicate it was made in 2002 (thanks K96771). You have all helped me make my decision, and I appreciate your help. This forum is a good thing.

I made him an offer and I'm waiting to hear back. I'll let you know.

Mine looks just like your Trainer but mine is called a Special. I bought at Scheels for $279 new. But it was discounted for a scratch on the stock.
